Page 6 of 13 Cheryl, Troy, Lou, and Jen are in the kitchen. Cheryl says she doesn’t think she got enough sleep last night. Lou said Troy came in bragging this morning. Cheryl said he did not and Troy said it was subtle. Cheryl said you did! Troy said Simon asked what it was rated and if it was rated G. Jen said is it ever rated G? Cheryl says they started out all being sweet but they don’t know how to do the other part sweet. Lou says the other part is sweet with savagery Troy said he thought it was intimate, himself. Cheryl said she didn’t think it was until they started.
Iyanla asks them what they are doing with the car. Michael said they cleaned out the car and Iyanla asked we? Michael said Lou did. Iyanla said Mr. Lou took the trash out of the inside. Working on the inside now? Lou said of the car and Iyanla tells him it’s a metaphor. Iyanla asked him what he learned. He said that he tried to set a manly boundary. When it comes down to getting the F out or getting the F in, he is willing to get murky and crazy and ruthless and whatever with Jen. He feels as he was trying to set a literal boundary and that he doesn’t want to get in there and touch the physical nastiness. He felt misunderstood and it was a real drag. He thought that he was going to have to take what he has learned and do the best with that, and then he realized he couldn’t leave. Since leaving wasn’t an option he turned it into give him a trash can and get out of his way and that he would do whatever he had to do as fast as he could.
He doesn’t feel that right now this exercise has done for him what they wanted it to do and that they missed the mark with him on this assignment. Iyanla tells him that she wants to offer that he will not get it because he has made up his mind not to get it. She tells him he was understood yesterday and that he took a position and he was victimized when he wasn’t able to keep that position. She says that he took an inappropriate position and that he will not get it if he continues to separate the essence of the experience with the essence of why he’s here. She says the car is him and the way he chose to handle the exercise is how he chooses to handle himself.
