Page 1 of 7 We open with TJ driving Jill to a gynecologist appointment. In confessional, Jill cries that her first thought this morning was that it would be nice not to be in pain all the time. She thought about how long she’s lived with the pain and not done anything about it. Her appointment is to determine how big the tumor is and if it’s cancerous.
The doctor has read her history and determined that she has a history of fibroid tumors. He begins an examination and feels a lump just above the belly button. He shares it is a large hard mass…it could be fibroids or something from the ovary. He can’t be sure by feeling from the outside. He performs a pelvic exam to determine if it is connected to the ovary and if it shows signs of malignancy. He suggests a cat scan to determine if it’s in the uterus or the ovaries. Chances are high it’s in the uterus. He goes to make an appointment for her cat scan. Lisa is feeling tentative, a little weepy, not really a strong sense of self. She’s afraid to see Rhonda because she disappointed her as well as herself. Rhonda is angry and Lisa admits rightfully so. She feels really stupid and doesn’t understand why she’s not getting it.
Jessica is at the computer. She’s received an email from her father. She’s having mixed emotions. On one hand he’s supportive and misses her, but on the other hand, he’s uncomfortable with calling her at the house. She completely understands, but can’t help but feel she’s not a priority.
Jill and TJ arrive at radiology. Jill is reading about cat scans and all it can determine. A nurse supplies her with a cup of “nasty liquid stuff” as TJ calls it. TJ says Jill’s really holding it together and doing a great job. Jill shares she’s glad she brought TJ because she can take serious things and keep them lighthearted. The technician arrives to take Jill in for the cat scan. Jill shares in confessional that she’s never liked going to the doctor and she does not enjoy this procedure at all. The technicians discover that there is a large solid pelvic mass; 13.7 by 20.3 cm. Jill’s cat scan is complete. She thanks the technician and she and TJ head home. Now all she can do is wait. She’s relieved that that part is done.
