I've had to distance myself while I'm watching............if THAT makes any sense!!! LOL
And watch for a lot of the info about Little People and some of the updates (the one with the little guy in So. Cal. on one of the recent shows melted my heart!!!!!!).
My teens are not perfect by any means.............but they NEVER speak to us the way the Rolloff children are allowed to speak to their parents. Mine have actual consequences that last longer than one hour!!!!
My daughter gets wonderful grades.........and when she started slipping (and by this I mean a

we did make sure to figure out the problem!! She's 16 and the College classes she was in were very tough............but the class she just "forgot" to turn a big project in..........now THAT brought consequences!!!!
My son is 14 and honestly wouldn't even dream of treating us with such disrespect!!!
Debby.............ups and downs with kids.........teens included!!

...........is normal..........but those children have gone FAR beyond that. It's obvious that Matt wants to be the "good guy" and he may be genuinely worried about being permanently disabled or dying young. But it's still not healthy to raise the kids that way.......it WILL come back to bite them!!!
I think about much of what we saw on S.O. and some other similar advice...........the parental relationship is not strong and there's such a lack of love shown between the two of them. I think they both live for their children and their own interests. The kids will really be so subconsciously and consciously affected by that!!
There's much disharmony in that home........it always just seems like a "house" and not warm and loving and like a safe place to fall.....................I hope as they watch these episodes they can really analyze what we are seeing unfold!!!
