I had touched base on Maureen last week or the week before about I had read something about alcohol and the father. The way she downed that shot,I wouldn't be surprised. I don't know what the percentige is of children of alcoholics becoming addicted to it?


Dustin is a jerk! He talks with out listening. He is always right and never wrong. He only hears what he wants to hear. He seems to have this &quot;I can whip your a$$&quot; complex. I saw him on one of those hyped up celebrity boxing matches a few months back,and he was boxing horseshack of Welcome back Kotter. Dustin one,so it must have really went to his head. I wonder if the timing of the episode for CFC is significant regarding the issues that may be bought up on Dr. Phil. It may be that he or she chose to air this Dr. Phil program about her 'issues' after there was some indication that things might not have been going as well for her as she has implied... She's definitely tried to make her mothers death and her brother having to be put in a group home issues of her struggles.

She admits that she has an addictive type personality.

It would be surprising that the media hadn't been having a 'hey day'.. with goody two shoes Marcia! Maybe it only has the potential of being a serious problem if she isn't vigilant and it is good that she can get the cards all out on the table if possible.

The clip I saw of her dad though, he seemed abnormally harsh.. Did someone suggest he was an alcoholic? It will be interesting to see this get sorted out today... It's on at 3 in the afternoon here.. (Dr. Phil show regarding Maureen)

If he is an alcoholic, than I know they have a tendency to shift blame to deflect from their own issues. That could go for Maureen too though I guess!

I do hope it's just alot of innuendo and she comes out a better person.

I grew up in a time that you did not air your dirty laundry in public,and for Maureen to do this is huge. I feel that since she is doing this public forum,it must all have been eating at her for a long time. I know you can't go by those entertainment magazines,but I have been reading them since I was 15. I don't know where or how,but I remember years ago that there was controversy with the Brady kids,and for some reason alcohol is in the back of my mind. (hey I could be wrong,it's not like the first or last time either ) I do think it's odd that we don't hear from Maureen,and now all of a sudden she's on 3 tv shows. Maybe she wants &quot;something&quot; out in her own words before it is told in a different version! Thats what makes me mad when I see these mothers who were fighting and demanding that their children be television stars. I really can't think of one kid that grew up a normal life after being subject to tv at a young life style!

Since we have had a few child stars brought back in the public eye,I just found out that Paris Hilton's mother Kathy was Cissy off of Family Affair. (Buffy, Jody ,Mr.French, Cissy, Mrs. BeaslyDoll, and the father,all I remeber was his real name Brian Keith) I was totally shocked,because of how she feels entitled now and she sang for her supper then. I saw Maureen on Dr. Phil. I think I now see why Maureen felt she had to go public with so much of her past. It was very interesting although I still have many questions about the situation.

On Cathy Hilton...I heard that she once had sort of a film career but it was very limited. She did appear on Family Affair, but just as a guest. The girl who did play Cissy is also named Kathy though.

It seemed that little Buffy, who was always my favorite, suffered from drug abuse and finally died as a result early in her life. I think the show that got hit the worst was Different Strokes. That show had what was seemingly a curse. The adults came out okay, but those kids went through hell.

I have no idea why people think being a kid star is a great thing. There are a few that turn out okay, like Ron Howard, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Shirley Temple, but many more that don't.

It's funny, I just lost a pm to Kisergurl ( think I put Kisergirl) to tell her about Cissy too. I had to look it up though as I was surprised.. Cissy had her own distinct look and I knew I'd seen enough pictures of Kathy HIlton (whose maiden name was Richards) that I would have made a connection or heard of one.

Anyway, I do agree that so many child stars grow up a mess and have their priorities out of whack.

I also thought of the exceptions...and of course Shirley Temple always a favorite of mine certainly didn't exploit her fame. If anything, she used it for good! I'm sure by the time she was an adult, she probably got bored of the Hollywood scene and life!

Here is the imdb for Kathy Garver who was born in 1945 and played Cissy. I'm surprised to see she is still very active with her career. Maybe I wouldn't have recognized her!

Maybe Kathy Hilton (born 1959) played a friend of Buffy and Jody's? There was a credit on wikipedia for having done a couple episodes on Family Affair.

Hey now, I'm not doing to bad for mistakes this week. Let's see, I had Marie on cocaine,Maureen's dad an alcoholic,and poor lil Paris's mom a saintly teen actress. I will order more magazines and read up on who's who! Sorry you'all,I hope my next post might have correct info. Well,as far as all the old shows, I love them. They take me back down memory lane!
