Re:Little People, Big World New Season 11 Months, 1 Week ago
I'm beginning to see the end of the line for the show..

I think Matt wants to use the show's platform to educate people about little people but he also seems to want to be somewhat of an opportunist. I got the feeling that the guy who painted Jacob's room did it for free... It was pretty cool... I don't know if they ever showed the twins room again after they showed it finally emptied out. I thought Matt was dragging him over to that room after he finished Jacob's.

I think Matt does for his kids what he himself would have wanted. I'm not sure if Jacob really appreciates it.

The show to me is getting to be really discombobulated... Sometimes it's been a hodgepodge of different times melded together on one show. I think they covered alot of things from last summer and interspersed them into some Fall activities.. Maybe the accident on the farm created that.

The show on Monday... showed a huge mess in the house ...then Matt going out to pick up his LOA friends to see the farm.. (I thought that's what he said) ... Then they show them going out to dinner.. and Amy starting a conversation about Molly possibly needing a role model of a normal sized person. I thought that incredibly odd. Maybe I don't understand where she is coming from? My kids have several friends whose mom's are like other mothers.. and extra eyes for me! My kids have alot of other adults in their lives because of our church.. I know the Roloff's go to a christian school so I would think that there would be some semblance of role models there.

After dinner, Amy and some of the friends went to Target and shopped picking up a bday gift for Jacob.. then they went back to the house... Some sort of conversation about the word Dwarfs or Dwarves... and Matt having to spell it out and showing people.. I think it was a teaching moment... They never resolved how the mess got cleaned up.. Maybe Matt's mom came over... they showed her there at some point during the show doing dishes..

To me, the show was very discombobulated... I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as the first season or 2.. Maybe because the flaws are starting to become overwhelming. Each of the family has their flaws. Molly has escaped unscathed for the most part... She seems to be a nice kid.. The boys are another matter. Maybe Matt has indulged them way too much! Living his youth vicariously through them!

Sometimes I think Matt wants to be seen as the wise father.. Him taking Jacob up the hill in the jeep and giving him the talk that now that he's 10...he'll need to start helping out on the farm more..

I think they need a show where they bring in a family therapist!

Yeah. that's the ticket! LOL. I'm not sure if you are kidding or not, but it's a great idea. Of course if you think Amy got upset about Matt bringing in the closet organizer person, just imagine her reaction to a therapist. She would go ballistic. LOL.

I had not thought about it in the terms you describe KP, but I think you are correct. Something is off to me. Maybe things at home are not as rosey as they seem on the show. Maybe that bickering is indicative of a problem in the marriage. I don't think Matt or Amy believe in divorce so I'm sure they'll work out their problems.

When I got so frustrated with the kids and their attitudes, the first name that came to mind was Paris. LOL. I know there is a big difference there, but still, being famous for people following you around with cameras as you act like a spoiled brat, is sad no matter what your last name is.

Molly does seem to be the good girl, exept for a few times she has talked disrespectfully to her father. Do they have higher standards for her. Is it just boys being boys?

When Amy talked about no average size role model for Molly, I wondered what did she consider her mother and Matt's mother. Matt's mom seems to be around a lot and appears to be well liked by all the kids. I think I might have felt slighted if I were Matt's mon and saw that scene.

I will continue to watch. I still like them, but I hope the make some changes within the family. It would be nice to see some personal growth with the kids and their parents.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of Matt's mom! She seems to be a wonderful role model.. I had thought maybe since some shows issues seem to focus more on something to do with the boys that maybe she was trying to bring some focus to Amy and give her a little limelight.

I'm sure the pressure of having cameras in their faces scrutinizing and capturing every negative and sometimes positive moments... must add family pressure and arguments about how they are portrayed or how the show is edited.

I had wondered some time ago if this show could actually backfire on them with regards to the kids and their attitudes..

At least it provides Matt with revenue to expand the farm... and all his projects.. I sure hope they are squirreling some of it away..

I'm just thinking that the editing is stranger than usual.. Maybe Matt has alot of creative voice in the editing process. I realize that some of what he does is a public service type issue regarding educating about issues involving Little people.. I'm sure he's established enough that he could probably be a great consultant and the family wouldn't have to rely on a reality show format for income. Something about exploiting their dysfunctional family in the guise of entertainment is beginning to bother me..

I know I have had more than a few choice words about Zach on this show. He is rude, spoiled, and disrespectful, however I must admit I felt for him last night. His school class was having a formal on a large ship. He hesitated to go because of his leg still healing, but he went anyway. I thought it was very sad. I know, nobody wants to be pitied. I know I don't, but you just had to see it. My heart went out to him.

I think he is really feeling left out with the teenager social scene, since he doesn't have a little person in his area to date. He denies it, but you can really tell it is bothering him. It must bother Jeremy too. They tried to make him feel welcome but it just looks tough.

I saw some more disjointed scenes last night. After the formal, Matt took Molly on a business trip with him. She has some good ideas for travel. I think The Roloffs Go To China would be a great special.

I could see it coming when they opened the show (or when I tuned in anyway) and they had the maps out... Then Matt took Molly out for lunch and talked to her about places she'd like to go...

I could see they might have been laying down plans for this summer! I thought Matt talked about taking her with him... but maybe I didn't see the other half hour show.. I thought they just went out to lunch together.. and he was taking dubious notes.

I think Molly is the more studious daughter.. Thankfully she probably helps balance the house a bit more. Those boys are a handful.

I think alot of Zach's issues are _base_d on teenage angst type stuff...and his own set or dilemmas... On one hand he tries to come off confident being a dwarf and seemingly being realistic... but the other hand it must get to him with Jeremy always having his friends or girlfriend there in the house..

I wouldn't want to be a teenager again for anything! Just remembering that insecure feeling as a younger person exploring more grown up issues and relationships makes me a bit more sympathetic to Zack.. Since he has more than an average number of issues to navigate.

I missed the top part of the show I guess where they showed the formal.. Since they go a christian high school it was probably pretty small...and hopefully more of a friendly environment.. My own daughter just went to her prom with a group and not with a date per se.. I think it is much more acceptable to do that these days. Back in my day absolutely not! Now, I think they want the experience... Which I can understand..

I'll try to catch a rerun this week... I think it's on several times!

Try to catch it again. Zach seemed very sad to me. It was a nice time, but still. I think he is feeling the odd one out more and more.

Molly went with her dad on a short business trip to somewhere in California I think. She's a dreamer too by listening to her travel desires. I agree they are probably thinking of a trip for the show. It seemed like they may be leaning towards Canada.
