I dunno..........what did you all think?? It didn't seem to be a huge deal to the contestants themselves. I think all the same dramas will exist in each tribes, actually. After all, IMO, humans are humans!

I will say I thought the first challenge wasn't all that intense and exciting. Hmmmmm..............well, I'll give it a few episodes to get to know the players and see if I can really get into it this season.

I think the racial hype was just that... hype. By some of the comments made... I think initially the contestants felt a certain "pressure" to represent their "group" in a positive light, but the job of surviving will prevail... the usual dramas will exist in each tribe as well as the quest for food, shelter and the big bucks. LOL

My husband thought the first show was bland... I was just happy the season began... enough of reruns... let the season begin... LOL

I decided to boycott the show so, I did. I did hear on the View that one of their makeup artist or hairstylist, was actually a contestant of the show. Of course, everyone is under contract to secrecy pending the full run of the show. They go back to their normal lives until the finale show when the top winner is voted on, so noone knows how you did on the program.

It would be wild if the girl from the View won it, with Elisabeth being a former contestant on that show as well.

I thought the show was a terrible depiction of each "people"! The casting seemed to be focused on choosing people who promoted racial stereo types rather than just contestants who happened to be people of varying skin colors.

I also thought the editing promoted stereo types...especially for the African American tribe. I thought the caucasian came across as smug and elitist. But, then again, maybe that's how they are viewed by others.

Before you beat me up, let me provide a disclaimer that this was just my perception and my opinion.

Sistine, I think that my main concern is what if it so happens, that the Asian tribe starts winning all the challenges, it appears that Asians are somehow superior to the other races. Or what if the white team starts winning many of the challenges, does that mean the whites are superior to the others. It just doesn't set well with me. What if the people are voted off in an equal distribution? Does that mean that we are all equal after all?

Just the words, we are dividing people by race, then see what happens, makes my skin crawl. I consider myself open minded, but, when my gut says this goes against your sense of fairness, then I listen. That show, this season is just not right for me.

I'll make this my last post on the matter. I don't want to deprive those viewers who really enjoy the show of their space on the thread to discuss the events each week.
