Summer's best Drama (Star vs. Barbara) 2 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 1
Happened on this article.. and thought it was a somewhat fresh viewpoint.. It seems like they have a good argument although they don't mention the twist about the People magazine. I think that is what tipped the scales... regarding the situation. But that's my humble opinion.

All has been relatively quiet on the issue. The writer of the article.. points out Star's faults and Barbara's faults and the positives of the situation ( publicity) for both Star's future endeavors and for the Fall season of The View. Someoone had mentioned this...but I hadn't really looked at it like that.

I wonder if the author had considered the information about People magazine though when he/she wrote this piece.

Did anyone read the People piece?

Here's the link...

Thanks for the link, KPW. As you already know, I agree with most of what was said in the article. I think it was published before the People article came out, but, I don't think that would matter. I read the People article. I feel the same as before hand. The way I see it, it that the only misrepresentations were made by ABC, not Star. I think it was a case of blaming the victim.

I'm still on Star's side on that whole exit issue, however, I still like Barbara. She is doing a great job on The View everyday. She is in there working HARD for her money. I've never seen her like this. I used to think that she drug the show down. Not now. Everyday there are sexy or trashy or scandalous tales, that she announces with enthusiasm. It's quite bizarre, but, I love it. I tape it everyday.

I've posted before on another thread about how co-host Saint Elisabeth has become not only the president of the George Bush fan club, but also the judge, jury and executioner of any person who violates her high moral code.

She went way off on the young girl who had an affair with Christie Brinkley's husband. She called her a hoochie momma and said she looked like a prostitute. Said the girl was old enough to know better. She dogged the girl for 2 days. Called any women who would date a married man a slut. (I'm not positive if she used the exact word slut, but, I think so. If she didn't it was very much inferred) Finally, Barbara, fesses up and says that she had an affair with a married man once, a long time ago. You could have knocked Elisabeth over with a feather. Wonder if she'll go near that topic again?

They knew Elizabeth was a conservative when they bought her on board. I think they want her be vocal... I can't help but think that maybe the View is going in another direction from the description of Barbara's topics.. Maybe it will become more trash tv or they feel like they have to compete with Jerry Springer.

I think they are just trying to up the conflict quotient... Maybe Barbara is trying to transition the show so that it won't quite be such a shocking change when Rosie comes on board. You know she is going to say the outrageous stuff.

I don't see Rosie and Elizabeth getting along that well since they are polar opposites politically and in philosophy.. (I don't want to say morally!).. And as for Joy and Rosie.. Rosie is either going to steal Joy's thunder in the laughs department or they are going to just make it a comedy show and feed each other lines and play off each other. Depends on what their chemistry winds up being I guess.

For the most part, I think what that article deemed the "Summer's best drama".. it died down PDQ.. Which is just as well..

I still see arguments for both sides.. But they are both benefitting from the hoopla or trying to..

I think that Star forgot for a moment the protocol involved in an employer, employee relationship.
Her announcement threw the whole show off and, even though it contained praise for her co-anchors, the timing was worse than inappropriate. Yes, in the business world that is a firing offense.

As for Elisabeth, why does she get so reved up on some of the relationship issues? Is she paranoid about her own guy?
I've had it with her, I think that she'll look back on some of the things she's said, and the attitudes she's expressed and be aware of the rigidity and inexperience behind her reasoning. But, I don't want to wait around for that.

If it hadn't been for some of the fresh new faces - and they have provided the show with emergency transfusions - I would have stopped watching completely.

I thought she was already fired when she made her announcment two days early. I think Barbara is a big enough girl to handle a situation like that. Everything went smoothly and I didn't see anything thrown off, except for ABC. Control is a very touchy thing. Star didn't like the fake, "Star has chosen to move on," scene that was certain to take place on Thursday, so she told the truth on Tuesday. If I tried to convince my employee to lie about something and then it came back to bite me in the butt, I don't think I would have the right to call them disloyal.

I realize that Elisabeth was hired to voice the conservative viewpoint, but, she has lost all perspective on reality. I think she and Rosie may actually agree on many issues. Rosie is very conservative with child rearing matters. I have been quite surprised of how conservative. I also remember her talking on her show about how she hates nudity. She is practically phobic about beeing nude. She is not one to discuss sex issues, at least she didn't on her show and I've never read or seen her do it in an interview. She says to keep that private. Of course gay marriage will be certainly be a hot topic between them.

I do think Elizabeth's rantings are due to inmaturity. She needs a mentor.

I do wonder how Joy and Rosie will work it out. I can't imagine the two of them staying on that panel for long. I do think the rumor of Gayle King taking Star's place is great. I like Gayle, but, would she be able to leave Oprah and move to New York?

Yeah, I definitely think The View knows who to have on board to keep conversations "hot"!! I find myself agreeing with each one of them in different areas; and disagreeing with each one of them at times!

No, I certainly do NOT agree with anyone dating a married man.........BUTTT, I will say 1st of all........the man needs even MORE responsibility and bashing since HE is the one in the committed relationship. AND.........when the older married man picks a teenager he KNOWS it's because they are immature and easily manipulated and quite stupid about the realities of life and relationships!!! So, I guess, here I am again.........agreeing with BOTH sides of the argument!!!!
