I have friends who do that...turn the whole discussion around to make it about themselves. Wonder why they do that? But I wanted to say Mystique I agree with everything you said.

Felt so sorry for Jill today, dreading having to go home and deal
with mom's "stuff.'I had not seen this episode before, and wondered why the show did not offer this medical treatment, as they have done with other HGs...Bethany, Allison, Karen...to name a few. Was it Jill's decision to wait, and was lack of insurance the reason? I'm not clear on this part of Jill's story...it took me a while to get involved with this particular group of women!

Well considering the issues she faced when she had the surgery years earlier in which the tumor was left behind. That surgery had left her with a stroke or blind or some major complications. I think the show has some leverage in helping the women but taking on the enormous risks of surgery and recuperation should be the women's decision alone.

I think Allison was just assisted with medical consultations.. and the genetic testing.

I think with Bethany SO2 they just consulted with someone about whether anything new could have been overlooked as the cause of her amnesia. Dr . Stan put her through a couple hypnotic sessions.

Karen was sent to rehab.. but that doesn't mean the show picked it up. Not sure there. Maybe the initial hospital visit they picked it up. I am sure Rhonda and Iyanla had connections to good rehab hospitals... and they enjoyed some free advertising

They probably have some type of insurance.. on the women while they are in the house...But preexisting conditions probably don't qualify.

I remember from the fall that Jill winds up looking into her options. I think she gets a second and/or third opinion. The first doctor is making it sound like an emergency situation. The second (and third?) give her more options. Eventually someone puts her on some sort of hormone therapy to shrink the tumors.. She also looked her options of state assistance to have the surgery... I think she had planned to have it done in Calif.. and stay with a cousin..but that never happened. She did live with the cousin for awhile but hadn't had the surgery.

Hopefully she's still being cared for by competent doctors and they are helping her make the decisions. Maybe they want to continue to try to shrink the tumor some more. I know one of her goals was to lose 50 lbs. before the surgery. (I think that was how much)...

Fortunately Jill has been pretty open with her health situation and how she had a hand in making her own situation worse.

Anyway, yes, It was Jill's decision.. after getting more opinions about her situation. And fortunately for us all we got to see the rest of her journey on SO3. Now hopefully she'll continue to keep us abreast of her progress... Last I'd heard about her health was that she's still struggling with the cupcakes.. (or doughnuts...'cupcakes cousins'!) Still trying to shrink the fibroids. And the latest was trying to land a job in Las Vegas at a jazz station there. If she moves again, that might put her health issues on the back burner again for a time... But then again, she might have full health coverage for the first time in a long time! I think her current spot was only a part time one.

Thanks for the info ...your memory is better than mine!
I do seem to remember that they took Bethany for an endoscopy though, re her stomach problems when she tried to eat.
I missed the details of the complications of Jill's first surgery...
small wonder she was not keen to face that again! She may have
listened to mom too..."not life threatening."

Actually your memory is better than mine regarding Bethany.

I'd forgotten about the endoscopy. Which is just another test.. I think they were checking out why her stomache was bothering her so much. Didn't they find an ulcer or something?

I can't remember the depth of the complications that Jill had...but they were severe... They left the one fibroid in because it was close to a vein and nerve that went down her right leg.. (or was it her left???? ) I seem to recall something about a stroke.. Maybe the stroke created temporary blindness.. I'll see if I can find the blog entry that detailed what she said happened.

To the best of my recollection, they found "pinprick" bleeding or some kind of irritation anyway...think that it was not deemed serious, and that she may have been given some medication.
But I see that you are right, they did arrange "testing" for some of the HGs, rather than actual treatment, per se.
