Dear Elizabeth,
Today is the first day that I've been able to sit down at the SURVIVING laptop.

Last Wednesday 8/11/04 at 4:30 P,M., a fire swept through my condo, destroying nearly everything in its path.
Fortunately everyone in the building was evacuated and no one was hurt.

Larry, Elsie and I were able to get out safely and in a moments panic, when I had started down the stairs I remembered my Grandson Dannys parakeet "SPOT" and ran back to get him. So there I was walking down 12 flights of stairs with a large parakeet cage in my arms.

I guess this is one way of getting rid of clutter!! It's just that a lot of was is gone wasn't clutter. It was a lifetime of memories. My family photos only have smoke damage and that makes me happy.

But the truly most important thing that I know in my heart is that material possessions can be replaced. The loss of loved ones and irreplaceble life is truly what "LOSS" means. I will survive this tradegy,..easier that my other losses,

Don't know if my hard drive at home has survived the smoke damage, so I may have lost all my files and mail. Hopefully, I'll hear again from those who have written to me in the past,
