Didn't you love how Sinae made a new friend today! Natalie seems so confident, and self assured. Does Sinae have any exposure to braille? This sounds like a huge step for her to take, and it would mean true acceptance.

I love how the women got around today. Some would say they are not independant, they had help to drive and to navigate through the restaurant. But I say, go girls!! They know how to get where they want, and to get what they want!

Many men won't ask for directions, they think it's not doing it on their own. I say, if you get there, you are accomplishing your task! However you get there, if you make it, great.

My mom and I are terrible at directions, her much worst than me We had to go downtown in a large city to find a wedding. We got written directions, spoken directions,(a few times), and still got turned around. But we made it! Yes, had trouble getting home too, but we got there. So, go for it girls, and asking for help is not failing!!

Being PROUD comes in to play with some disabilities. For Sinae I think it's the fact that she hasn't had this loss of sight for so long. Natalie had for alot longer. For others with disabilities it's knowing or not knowing what is out there for help, finding a means to get helpful resources. I experience that daily around here---either peops are too proud to get any help or they don't know where to go to get the help! It's sad, too, because ALL in need NEED the benefits to help them out.
(Did that make sense? If not, just ask!)

I know with my daughters independence is so important. THey teach you from the beginning that disabled children are like every other child out there they need to try. I think a lof sinaes issues are she just isn't sure how to try and does teh best she can and it is not longer working for her.
