Asa-One Life to Live 1 Year ago Karma: 3
Did anyone catch todays show? On the previews for the show on tomorrow (Aug 16, 2007) it previews that Asa dies.......I know that he had (has) lung cancer (in 2006) and hasn't been on the show lately.
Does anyone have info on him. Did he pass? I tried to google him but didn't find anything.

I know there are more people on here that know WAY more about computers than I do!!

Thanks for the info!
Mary

As far as I know Phil Carey is still alive. He didn't renew his contract though and wouldn't agree to stay on as a re-occurring character. The show supposed to be really good this week. They are bringing back some old characters for his Funeral.

I had checked his imdb the other day when the question came up... It does appear he is still alive although who knows what the state of his health is. Perhaps they knew he wouldn't be able to return to the show.. Or he chooses not to..

As I said above he chose not to renew his contract or stay on the show.

I think it's a distinct possibility that it wasn't even a question of him wanting to or not.. His health may not allow it..

I wasn't trying to be redundant.. was just researching his status independently and coming to my own conclusions... (albeit speculation) I hadn't even considered the previous replies. So my apologies to you Tara. You speak as if you know positively. Maybe you are a longtime fan and follow some of the show's fansites.

Years ago, it wasn't unusual for some of these shows to bring in replacements.. but perhaps if he's been in that role for a really long time, it would be somewhat disrespectful to do that.. Plus his character is getting older anyway. Maybe he got to have some say into how his character is written out of the show..

I hope he is doing alright.. and that he manages to beat the cancer..

It was good to see the actors come back.....even if it is for a sad show.....

But watch out.......Alex is back and up to no good as she was once before!!
