Did you see it last night? I now think I know why they cater to Zach so much. I think it is because they feel sorry for him and all the surgeries he has undergone. Of course Matt had many more in his life, but I don't think his parents caved in the way Amy does.
I know it must be difficult to see your child in pain. I can't even imagine.
I don't think that Amy has a bad attitude about her own condition nor Matt's, but I do think she is angry over Zach's condition. She takes it out on everybody else. Unfortunately Zach is picking up the bad attitude right along with her.
And I still say she got it honest. Do you remember when her parents came to visit and her Dad just complained and complained...about everthing Matt had done or not done on the farm. Matt was proud and thought Amy's dad would be pleased, but no he just picked everything apart the way Amy does and he did it at the family table during the meal. Thank God they don't live near by and show up often.

Debby..........you're right........Amy really is a product of her upbringing and environment.
The sad thing is that Amy and Matt both seemed to accomplish more and be happier as children.
I totally get that she aches and hurts for her child, but it really is about balance..........between catering to him as he really DOES need that sometimes!!! And also between helping him find joy and happiness and purpose in his life!!!!

I read somewhere that Zach has now recovered from the surgery and is doing quite fine. According to the show, his surgery was done over the Christmas break. From the previews it looks like he went through a lot of pain. Of course, they bascially break your leg, so I would assume that really hurts. I have never had a broken bone before, so I can only imagine.

This past week's episode was about Zach's after surgery care and him coming home from the hospital. It was pretty good.
I didn't realize Matt has a brother. Is he a little person too? Is he still alive? The parents were saying that the brother had more surgeries than Matt! I was shocked.
Next week, it looks like Matt finally has enough of the trash dump in the boy's bedroom. He brings in a huge storage unit to clean the junk out of the house. LOL. Thank God.
I know it must make you sick to remodel your home to such a beautiful condition and then have it be totally trashed all the time, even on national television. It' hard to believe someone could allow that and not be sooo embarrassd. I know, I know, some people just don't care about being tidy. They just don't think it is important at all and you can never change these people. I tried for years with a couple of different boyfriends and it never worked. All I ever got was resentful and hurt. They just blew it off and never gave it another thought. At times I actually thought they enjoyed making a mess and seeing my reaction.
In the scheme of life I suppose a neat and clean house is not the most important thing in the world, but it sure makes life much lighter, especially if you have limited space and live with other people. Having a system of organization is quite helpful and time saving.

Why do you think people differ on the issue of being tidy? My father, both my brothers and I are quite tidy. My mother is NOT. She is clean but not neat at all. I grew up doing most all the household work. My mom just wasn't in to it.
Now, my dad does most of the housework. He is retired except for 1 day a week, and my mom still teaches. It seems to work out okay. He does a good job, because he never did any house work until he was in his 60's. LOL.
