What's Iyanla up to? 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
The day before yesterday I heard Iyanla on that radio talk show that I have heard her on before. I think it's called the Michael Dresdin Show or something like that. He is an African American talk show host who is quite intertaining and is broadcast all across the country. I think he is out of Chicago.

Anyway, I caught the very end of the interview with Iyanla, but she was saying she was on her way to Atlanta because someone had been convicted. She said the next step was the appeal and the appeal would take a long time. He wished her well on her endeavor.

Does anyone have any idea what she was talking about? Is she practicing law again? I think I was told she used to be an attorney.

Just curious.

No.. I have no clue... but I know Towanda was in that area but surely by now her case would have been resolved.. I thought it had been and there had been some discussion on that..

Jill and Jodi are both in that area I believe..

It's also possible that it is totally unrelated to SO..

I guess if she mentors various people through SO and her ministry..(and she could probably have scads more people involved through her ministry than SO) that she might always be able to advise people unofficially and perhaps also be a character witness during the sentencing part of the process.

Sure hope it isn't one of our SO ladies..

I hope it's not too. I hate I tuned in just a little too late, so I just caught the very end. He was wishing her his best and she sounded as if she was on some mission to help this person in Atlanta.

She stressed the appeals process would take a long time. I would think that if you not supporting the defendant, you would care less about the appeals process, so I'm thinking it must be somone who was found guilty. Usually, you cannot appeal if you plead guilty to a crime. I'm going to keep trying to figure it out.

She probably wouldn't be able to practice law in Ga. anyway.. Wouldn't she have to be licensed by the state of Ga.? Maybe I am making assumptions..

I recall New York, Baltimore and now the D.C. area as hubs of Iyanla's professions. Even when she was on SO, she still lived in Md... (Outside of Annapolis I believe I read)

You do have to be licensed in the state, but you can practice in a state you not licensed as long as you are hooked up with another attorney who is licensed in that state. You must appear in court together, sign things jointly, etc. That is my understanding anyway.

Correction to my post. The show is called the Michael Baisden Show. He has a website but you have to pay to join and I'm not in the mood for that. I searched the cite but could not locate any posts on the message board about Iyanla on earlier this week.
I'll keep trying. It seems there are a lot of death penalty appeals going on in Atlanta this week. Who knows.?

Info on Towanda's judgement is here http://www.gwinnettcourts.com/pcsDetail.asp?case=06-B-02072-7 Seems in May of this year a note was entered that she didn't pay restitution. I didn't find any other information on her being brought back to court for not paying. SHRUGS...
