Athough that movie was inspirational for Rhonda, I'm not sure if I want to see it or not....just kidding. I don't mind crying at a movie. I have watched quite a few 9/11 movies and was surprised that I didn't cry more. I don't recall crying to the extent that she did.

Has anyone read Rhonda's latest blog about her spiritual awakening? It is very long and quite unusual. What do you think?
It contains more about her parents death than anything I have read before.

Post edited by: Debby, at: 2007/05/11 12:33

I just checked out Rhonda's latest update on her blog. She went on a 12 day wilderness adventure. Six of the days all by herself! I am impressed. I have visions of Survivorman or Man vs. Wild in my head. Even they only stay a couple of days. LOL.

Isn't that dangerous? In any wilderness area I know of in North America there are one or more of the following: bears, mountain lions, poisonous snacks, etc. How would you protect yourself or get help if you got injured or sick. Probably no cell phone reception either.

She also says she fasted, so she didn't have to worry about food. Now this is just too much. I guess it helped keep the animals away, but still. How can fasting be good for you? Every doctor I see when asked about fasting, says that it is not helpful and could be dangerous to your health. Are they lying?

JUst the thought of spending the night in the wilderness by myself for one night scares the heck out of me. She must be a very brave woman.

Debby,

I'd guess that it may not be as wilderness as she makes it sound..

Of course just being totally alone...even in a cabin in the woods would seem extreme to a city gal.. Not having a phone, tv, or internet to distract you would certainly make you think beyond the moment a bit..

I think an occasional fast is ok... It probably depends on the situation.. I don't think your body can take constant deprivation.. but it can go into survival mode for short times. I think some health people use fasting or special diets as cleansing type processes...and of course there has always been the spiritual type fasting. Many religions still use fasting as part of their practices..

I had checked her blog a couple times the last few weeks waiting to see if she added anything else and also looking to see if she made any comments regarding the recent daytime emmy's..

The post about the wilderness experience was written almost 4 weeks ago.. I'm going to keep an eye peeled for updates.. What next? Maybe she won't go back to coaching or tv at all. Maybe she'll prefer a simpler life with Mr. Love a lot! He seems to be the catalyst for the changes that she seems to be experiencing.. I hope though that she's doing it for herself and not for him...

You are right about Rhonda seeming to have gone into a very sharp direction with the wilderness, discovery, strength type mode. Not that it is bad. Different people teach us different things.

I remember that one of my ex-boyfriends introduced me to Led Zepplin and I will be forever grateful. At first I thought he was trying to torture me to death or drive me crazy. I hated them. LOL. I then read a lot about the band and REALLY listened to the music and fell in love. I'm still a huge fan. It was actually the only good thing I took from the relationship. LOL.

I guess I am a city girl, even though I lived in a fairly rural area for part of my childhood. I didn't like it then really, except when we would build forts in the woods and play. I like my creature comforts.

Yes, there is religious fasting and that's certainly a good reason to do it. I saw Dr. Oz on Oprah recently, it was a rerun, and he was talking about digestion. He explained why fasting can be counter productive. I forget the details. They have also had other doctors on THe View talk about fasting and they all say the same thing. I've thought about doing the cleansing, but with my diabetes, I have to be careful. I would only do it with a doctors permission and I don't think I will find a doctor who sanctions it.
