Whoopi, Sherri Shepherd to join ‘The View’
Los Angeles Times published reports; ABC isn’t commenting for now

LOS ANGELES - “The View ” is about to get a lot bigger with reports that Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd will join the panel.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Whoopi, who had been tipped for months to fill a “View” seat, will join the show’s new season. Many originally expected Goldberg to become an official member following the early departure of Rosie O’Donnell in May.

In not-too-surprising news, Sherri Shepherd, the African-American comedian who has eloquently shared a spot on the show off and on over the last several months, has also been reportedly offered the job.

The Times says ABC is in final negotiations with the two women who would add more diversity to the all-white panel. The current “View” hosts are Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The new panelists are expected to be announced publicly next week.

Hey, they must read our boards!

I'm happy with those two. I just hope they both work out in the long run.

I wonder who they will get to replace Elisabeth when she is on maternity leave.

I like them it should be interesting see how they get along with the others.

They are not my first choice, however, I'll give it a chance... I like Barbara Walters and I guess she sees something in them.

I'm a little leery of Whoopie.. But after seeing Sherry lately on the panel.. I think she is a good fit.. There seemed to be a nice rapport between all of the women..

I don't recall them having Whoopie AND Sherry on at the same time before and perhaps 3 comedienne's on the panel could be problematic..

Whoopie has activist tendencies which isn't a bad thing in itself... as long as there is a balance there and that she isn't using the show and panel to promote only her causes.. I haven't seen her do that in the few times she has guest hosted. So I'm being cautiously optimistic..

I wonder what will happen with Elizabeth after she has her baby.. I'm sure she enjoys doing the show, but unfortunately, it's really hard when you have 2 little ones.. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't come back.. or if she tries for a month or 2 and then gives it up.. It has seemed that Friday's shows are often pretaped and I wonder if they only do the show 4 days.. and tape 2 in one day. It might be doable.. But is it worth it? Something for them to decide.. in due time..
