They just had Harvey Levin on and he's saying that the way the L.A. County works is that once the judge issues orders, and the person is transferred to sheriff's office than it's out of the judge's jurisdiction and it's the sheriff's call. Harvey claims to know why she was let go and it wasn't a rash or breakdown issue.. Her presence was turning the jail upside down.. and the sheriff wanted her out of there.
Harvey is speculating that she probably will get off and not have to go back. Sounds like it's a battle of the will's between the judge and the sheriff's office..
What a mess..
If Paris gets off... she'll get the last laugh.. What message does that send to these young brash women who revel in their own celebrity?

In my state, the Judge can ensure she stay "in custody" either in the jail or in a hospital if necessary. They also can call another county and send her there to jail. That happens here all the time.

She's enroute to the court now... They are saying that she was taken away in handcuffs.
One commentator is saying the fact that she was let out is an outrage and she sides with the judge.. Another person is saying that a breakdown could ensue because of yanking her around back and forth..
There seems to be a major bruhaha brewing between the court (judge) and the sheriff's office. Sheriff is saying that the judge has no jurisdiction of the jail..
Tonight's news shows are going to be all over this story tonight and the weekend!

She has to serve the remainder of her sentences. (don't know if that is the orginal 45 days or 23 day sminus time served)
Also the judge didn't hear about the Paris phoning in instead of appearing through TMZ
I also heard that the sheriff and the judge argued for 2 hours on jurisdiction.
Does the sheriff has the right to ignore the perimeters of a court order once a prisoner is in their custody... and can determine what punishment is right for a prisoner.. then who is the enforcer and who interpret the laws?

Post edited by: TigerRose, at: 2007/06/08 15:31

I hear she has already been credited with 5 days. That includes Sunday. She apparently checked in shortly before midnight Sunday evening... (was at an awards show or something a few hours earlier)..
The internet news is reporting that she was crying and saying something along the lines of "Mom, but it's not fair".... Sounds just like a little kid..
If you check out TMZ.com they talk about the sequence of developments today. One piece talked about them perhaps letting her talk to the courts by phone.. But that may have been in the midst of the arguing between the judge/courts and the jail personnel who is responsible for enforcing the courts order.
The judge was clear, that no work release, and no house arrest for her.. when she was sentenced.
In some ways I do feel sorry for her.. she's being made an example and why such a harsh penalty. The commentator's were having a field day with the controversy today.. Rather interesting and hopefully some lessons will be learned today. One commentator was a medical person who said that those with money can hire people to say anything on their behalf.. I think she was surmising that the mental breakdown was just a guise. She had been out partying on Sunday at some sort of awards show or premiere event.
Has anyone heard her father weigh in on issues related to his daughter? You only ever hear about her mother...
