TOPIC: Paris Hilton released from jail

It's seems accurate KPW. It's more than a DUI. When she was pulled over (after her license was suspended) The officer told her she was not suppose to drive... period, and made her sign a statement that she now understood that she was not allowed to drive until she got her license back from the state. She threw the signed paper into the glove box (it was still there when she was stopped the 2nd time)

During the trail she told the judge that she thought the officer was wrong and didn't verify because her publicist said she could drive if it's work related. She also said that she didn't have time to contact her lawyers and she never read any mail from the courts either because she "has people for that"

She's where shes at right now because she refused to accept responsibility of her action. She held up the court, she basically didn't take her legal problems serious. She gave a generic "I've learned my lesson". It wasn't about the DUI it was about ignoring the punishment given to her for the DUI... she really came across that the punishment wasn't really meant to be followed by her and that the law wasn't that big of deal for someone like her. (hence going to her publcist instead of going to her lawyer)

I do question her maturity level. She seems quite stunted. I do know that her siblings have made something of themselves other than a media object. The mother is a huge activist and stands on her own. I do think Paris is going through the typical tantrum. Maybe she learned awhile back that if she throws herself into a mental frenzy that she gets what she wants... people feel sorry for her and feel that mentally she's delicate and don't confront her as often. How she handled the whole things kinda says that she handles life by ignoring the unpleasant things, sweet talk what she can't just ignore or fend ignorance and when dealing with the court.. she couldn't get out of it by ignoring/ sweet talking/ fending ignorance and therefore had a melt down.

Post edited by: TigerRose, at: 2007/06/09 08:29

According to TMZ and I think I heard it from another source too...is that she really isn't coping well and not eating or sleeping and she's crying alot.. TMZ says she's being given pyshcotropic drugs.

You'd think the medication would sedate her a bit.. and help her cope.

She's really not coping very well for someone that is only looking at a couple weeks of incarceration...

I wonder if she's playing it up...(and I'm suggesting she probably is...) to force the authorities to back down and get her out of there again..

I'd think they'd let you have books or something..I wonder if she knows how to read though..

I also wondered if she had any sort of substance abuse problem.. It could be adding to her weird behavior..

Just considering the amount of time she was sentenced too. The drama doesn't mesh with it...

She needs to toughen up and deal...

I wonder what the majority of the celebrity community is thinking about the situation?

It's actually pretty comical!

I just read an article that said that many of Hollywood is not rallying behind her... a few said they felt sorry for her, a couple say it's unfair, but the majority seems to not care.
Hollywood has little love for jailed Paris Hilton

Well I heard somewhere.. can't remember if it was from Barbara Walters or not... but I remembered right... her mother always felt she was a special and was an emotionally delicate child. That she was worried about what her daughter would so when she became an adult. I may be wrong though...

I do agree with you, I do think she is making the most out of it. The press is all over it... and not sure if she recognizes the more she acts out the more she looks like a fool. I'm sure when she gets out she'll tell the world how horrible it was. She was very vocal to begin with that it's unfair to put her into jail.

Also the sheriff again reinterated that the sentence was too harsh for such offense. I don't understand why he didn't send her to the medical facility to be 'officially' evaluated. That way he had a stronger case for releasing her tho he probably just wanted to make sure HE got her out ASAP instead.

Working on an ambulance and responding to accidents involving drunks...............I'm sorry but I'm a major advocate for automatic jail sentences for drunk drivers!!! I can't begin to describe the scenes to you or the devastation of family members. We even lost one of our younger EMT's who was killed by a drunk driver. They deserve jail time, rehab and never to own a car or license again. That comes from someone who's been up front and personal with the tragedy these people cause and they are extremely seldom first time offenders!!!

Thanks for your insight Griz. I can't imagine having to deal with scenes like those. Paris needs a wake up call. I predict that this will NOT be it though. She doesn't take responsibility and feels that she is being persecuted. I am afraid it will take tragedy to finally wake her and these other young partyers.

KPW, you can get books in jail, but they must be mailed to you directly from the publisher's company. That shouldn't be a problem for Paris if she really wants to read. I saw that she took books in with her and wasn't allowed to keep them. Her attorneys should have told her that. But maybe she didn't listen.

I saw something very troubling to me this weekend on tv. They showed video clips of Paris on numerous occassions using racial slurs and other derogatory terms on camera. They are supposedly on Utube. I had not heard of these before, but I saw them. They bleeped out the N word and anti gay words and there were also antisemitic slurs.

The people doing the report said the media dosen't report it when she does this things for some reason, not the way they did with Gibson, Washington, etc. After seeing her using that lanuage on tape repeatedly it makes me think of her not as a poor, sad, child but a spoiled, mean, biogoted person. Yes, it's a free country and people can say anything they want, however if something so mean repeatedly keeps coming out of your mouth, I think it says a lot about your character.

Then I saw Nicole Richie on Letterman last week. She sat relaxed and smiling as she discussed her pending DUI charge. She laughed about it as if it was so UNIMPORTANT to her. What nerve!

This is on top of her invitation to a party at her house recently in which she informed the female guest to start starving, because no girls who weighed over 100 pounds would be admitted. She admitted to saying this but says it was just a joke.

I really don't think most of these "girls" have any clue about life, respect, integrity or common sense. I wonder if it's just too late. I really now wonder if these girls do have some kind of brain damage or learing disability.
