Did anyone see the previews for an upcoming show on Dr. Phil featuring Maureen McCormack? It looked very strange. They showed her father calling her a liar and her crying. They also showed her brother who sufferes from mental illness or some kind of brain damage. She was forced to put him in a residential setting after the death of her monther.

They never said when it was coming on and I checked Dr. Phil's website and couldn't locate anything about it. It's not on the schedule for this week.

I'll try to keep check, but if anyone hears more, let me know.
I really want to see this. I haven't been watching Celebrit Fit Club this season, although I have wanted to. I have seen Maureen on a few interviews. During the interviews she has talked about bulemia and cocaine problems in her past. It seemed to me that something was off in those interviews. Her answers did not flow freely and the interview seemed strained. Whenever they asked her to elaborate, she couldn't. She just repeated the one sentence answer. I noticed it with all the interviews so I don't think it was the interviewer but Maureen. I shrugged it aside, but now I'm wondering again. Perhaps she is just not used to be in the limelight. What is the deal with her? Any thoughts?

I saw parts of yesterdays show but didn't catch the previews. While I was searching around, I did find reference to Dr. Phil when he was filling in for Larry King earlier in April and Maureen was making the rounds regarding CFC. Maybe something was said then and her father is actually abusive. I wonder why it was that she had to put her brother in a special facility and not her dad? Maybe he had removed himself from overseeing his son's care. That interview seemed to have gone well.

I will keep an eye out. You know though, that you can't always count on previews to give accurate depictions of shows.. Didn't we learn that with SO's previews?


Maureen did have other issues she's had to deal with when she was younger. She seems to have what appears to be a good marriage and an almost adult daughter. In the realm of Hollywood the fact that she and her husband are still together must say something about her. I have not had a bad impression of her on any of the interviews. She seems to be an sensitive person typically and tears up easily. It wouldn't take much conflict with her dad to get her to cry I don't think.

But my impression is that she isn't a liar and I'm going to give her a huge benefit of doubt on this one! There's more to that interview than meets the eye... But I'm sure if there is dirt on Maureen that the tabloids would have been having a field day out of it. Maybe her dad resents her celebrity..

Who knows! I feel bad for her! (at this point anyway!)

Yeah I know how the previews can be distorted to make things appear different than the actual report. Could be the case here. In the preview this man, supposedly her father, is saying "All she ever did is lie, lie, lie". Then they show Maureen crying and her brother just standing there. The announcer is saying things like "You will be shocked to hear the story behind Maureen/Marsha Brady".

I don't suggest she has been lying, I just question the reason behind the strained interviews. THey just didn't flow like most interviews do. Even lay people who are being interviewed about obstacles in their life, seem to have more chit chat to them than she did in these interviews. I could feel the interviewers were uncomfortable with the timing of her answers and how she just dropped them without much elaboration. Then when asked, she just repeated what she said and stopped talking. Perhaps she was just embarrassed or perhaps there were details she didn't want her family to know about. I just hope I don't miss this show.
It seems like a have a mental block and I keep missing things I really want to see, like DR. Stan the other night. That's unforgiveable.

The Physcologist (spelling) made some sort of reference to it on Celebrity Fit Club, I think on the first weigh in. I fully didn't get all of it,but Maureen had tears welling up in her eyes. I think they said something about talking about it at a later date. I would love to know also. I think Maureen had too much on her plate and after her mothers death, she placed her brother in a facility and now is feeling guilty and is emotionally spent over this. Plus ,isn't her father and alcoholic???? (I may be wrong) I get all the rag magazines and read them,but there is so much falsehoods in them all!

I did see a short piece today. I didn't catch when it would be on. Maybe next week..?

The snatchett I saw was not on the set..but outside somewhere.. The father seemed to be really aggitated. Maybe they did an intervention or something. I've got to think that maybe Maureen spoke with Dr. Phil about her own struggles off camera when she saw him earlier in April.

I think it was inferred that a brother had gotten the father turn against her. But we all know how family dynamics can be especially if some have deeper issues or long held grudges.

They did show a man purported to be a brother.. I don't think it's the one they've shown pictured during CFC. So I have to lean toward thinking it's another brother.

She's readily admitted her early addiction problems and problem with bulimia.

Maybe Dr. Phil was trying to help with some sort of intervention. Especially if her father is an alcoholic.

I do want to see the show for myself so will keep an eye peeled on the shows website as to when it is supposed to air.

CFC is in the can (completed taping)... So maybe it comes up again. Dr. Phil doesn't tape that far ahead I don't think. Maybe he was trying to do it in conjunction with something else that comes out on CFC. I'm just thinking 'out loud'...! LOL!

They say Mareen will be on sometime in May. I'm going to keep my ears open.

KPW, did you see the show yesterday and today about the couple from Virginia? The husband was obsessed with his wife. The things he did are too voluminous and bizarre to believe, but they range from GPX tracking her car to putting hidden cameras throughout the house. He was really wacky. Anyway, Dr. Phil convinced him to go into a residential treatment program to save the marriage. He doesn't change and ends up in jail after violating a restraining order. What a wierd story, although, I think there are many people out there like that. I certainly have had clients who were involved in situations like that.

I can't recall what part of VA they were from.

It's odd that the man is the one who wrote the letter to Dr. Phil for help and from the day he went on the show, over the course of a month lost his house, wife, kids, job and freedom. I'm not saying that it is funny, but it is ironic. Of course, he brought it on himself.
