Not sure if anyone had followed that story at all..
But new details are coming out that is laying blame on the driver of his own car.. Seems that it had a black box type device that said the car was traveling 91 mph..
Initially after the accident they were attributing blame to another driver (deflecting I guess...) saying that a driver that had restrictions caused the accident.
Now it's coming out that the SUV being driven by a state trooper was going very fast with flashing lights and the governor was sitting in the front passenger seat with no seat belt! Seems pretty stupid! The Governor was supposed to be heading to an event where Don Imus was meeting with the Rutgers women's basketball team he had disparaged earlier. (This accident happened last Thursday I think)
They are saying now that the governor's driver will be charged.. They say that it's discretionary about using the flashing lights.. But clearly traveling 91 mph on a freeway... is going to catch other motorists off guard.. I think the governor should do a few commercial spots about using seat belts! He's lucky to be alive!

I saw that. I don't buy the story that he was heading home for the Imus meeting. The accident was late afternoon or early evening and the meeting was not until much later late night. I think he had plenty of time to drive even around 70, which is the speed limit on most of our major highways.
I had heard he was in the back seat, but, I guess that was wrong.
Front or back seat, you need that belt. My family was bad for not using their belt years ago. I would beg them over and over and they just wouldn't do it. Then it became law and not they always do. It's just force of habit. I wonder why he didn't buckle up when the trooper started speeding. I have been in police cars that went nearly that fast when responding to an emergency call, if we were out on the Interstate in the middle of the night and no other cars were around. It was soooooo frightening. I didn't like it at all and would never go that fast if I were driving the police car.
