I was glad to hear that The DNA test on Dannielynn has been done, at long last! Heard that Stern would file an appeal, but doesn't seem to have done so. I wonder if the custody battle will "go away" when the results come back? Virgie said, in the beginning, that she did not want to raise the child, that she should be with her natural father. Then her lawyer said she wanted custody...then interim custody...then joint custody! The DNA test results may not end this, after all.

I hear that getting the dna analyzed for a match is just half the battle. Even if the dna is a match then Birkhead will have to overcome the custody issues. It's not as clearcut in the Bahamas.. with Stern's name being on the birth certificate. I think Virgie's main battle and goal is getting the child away from Stern... But she has to be prepared for any eventuality.. She was saying that she wanted the baby until they determined who the father is... I also seemed to pick up that Birkhead and Virgie do want an amiable relationship and that they would probably work together. Nancy Grace tried to press O'Quinn tonight that would she take Birkhead to court over it... and he wasn't hardline on that..and said that they would work out something.. I think for right now, Virgie is trying to build a case to get Dannielynn out of Stern's care by proving that he is an unfit guardian. I'm sure Birkhead's camp would be fine with her waging this aspect of the battle.. If for some reason the DNA match comes back and it excludes Birkhead than Virgie will be in a position to press for guardianship a bit better.. being the direct next of kin. I think it's just part of a strategy for now.. If something negative comes up in Birkhead's background check for example.. then she could be a safety net for him.

I haven't heard much about Birkhead's family or his background. It would be very hard to be a single father while this baby is so young.. I do hope they can work something out. I think they'll be in the Bahama's a while still fighting this. I hear that Virgie already has a place lined up and a nanny to care for the child there. Thompson filed formal paperwork today to proceed with eviction papers of Stern... Not the baby, just Stern! He seems to be willing to let Virgie or Birkhead stay there though..

What a mess! Who knows how this all will turn out?

PS: I know it sounds strange, Virgie having a nanny lined up. Maybe it's the same nanny or caregiver who could help bridge the transition for the baby. I'm sure Virgie never had the benefit of a nanny!<br><br>Post edited by: KPW1956, at: 2007/03/21 22:00

I think it was Stern's sister who said on Dr. Phil today that Stern had 2 nannies to help with the baby. Why would a parent who is unemployed need two nannies to care for a child? I know people grieve, but, most people don't have the luxury to allow that to prevent them from caring from their child weeks after a death.

Don't get me wrong, I think the more people around to protect the child the better.

Did Bonnie Stern have anything &quot;sensational&quot; to say? The reason I ask is that they aired a totally different show in the late night rerun, where it's usually just a repeat of the day's show.

I don't know why they did that. I didn't think she said much. She seems like a nice enough lady, but, you can tell she has no real conviction about what she is saying about her brother. She is very monotone and matter of fact. I don't get the feeling she believes anything he says anymore. She really just wanted to say that people are painting her brother in a bad light. Poor thing. I guess he just got misunderstood. Right. She did agree that the DNA need to be conducted immediately.

She said that Stern had proposed to Birkhead that they do the DNA test out of the spotlight of the public and that Birkhead refused. So she blamed Birkhead. Dr. Phil said to her, that Stern didn't need Birkhead. He could go do his own private DNA test and prove his fatherhood without Birkhead if he wanted to. She had no response to that. Birkhead denies there was an offer by Stern.

What I find amazing is that taking the DNA is not a public thing. You don't stand in the parking lot and swab you mouth in front of cameras. You go to an office and get swabbed in private. What media circus is he describing? Wasn't he the one who allowed ET to film the funderal. WHen did he decide to pull from the media? Good grief.
