I used to have a very negative opinion of Jerry Springer. I didn't like his show at all and thought it was actually harmful. Then I saw Jerry do several serious interviews. I was quite impressed with him. He is actually a very politically minded person who may return and pursue politics again. He discussed many national issues and seemed well read.
When questioned about his show being a joke and so outrageous, he agreed completely. He said the show is a reflection of a certain segment of America. He thinks his guest represent what many Americans do, but, they aren't put down for it because they are attractive, educated and wealthy. He said that people love to see all the scandal about super stars lives no matter how trashy, but, if the people are the type from his show, it is somehow viewed as too pathetic because they are poor, uneducated and unattractive. He thinks they should have a voice too and that they are no lesser of an American because of where they come from. He doesn't take the show very seriously though.
I kinda agree with him. I don't watch the show, but, if others relate and find it entertaining then I think it is a personal choice. What's the difference in the dramas his show displays as opposed to the drama we see with Anna Nicole, Britney, Paris, Nicole, etc. ?
The few times I did see Jerry's show it was about who is the father of various women's babies. They tracked down the men, conducted the test, and knew who was and was not the dad in 60 minutes...not bad.
