Considering the age difference and the fact that her parents weren't very supportive... the whirlwind nature of the romance to begin with... (or so it seems) I'd say it has little chance of success. She might be submissive now... and I am sure he pushed her to accept the scientology stuff... but sooner or later, as she gets a bit older..(she is only 26 o 28) (He's 44)...she will wind up resenting his dominance.

I know there are lots of May December marriages that do work.. or at least appear to.

I hope they prove me wrong..and maybe Katie will be good for Tom to help mellow him out!

It's pretty hard to tell what marriage would work and what would not. Hollywood marriages hardly work out because of the ME ME ME enviroment that is bred there. There is no doubt that Kate's parents are very important to her even though she's gone against them several times. If Tom tries to dominate her relationship with her parents.. no doubt she'll walk sooner than later.

I'm never surprised by celebrities divorce announcements. I get surprised when they either divorce quietly or announce their 10th anniversary.

I did see an ABC piece that says that her dad will 'give her away'...

What's a parent to do? If they don't give their support they risk alienating her... Sometimes better to let them find out the hard way.

I will say that Tom is now associated with the Redskins Owner Dan Snyder. I think Dan Snyder might be bankrolling Tom's new movie company.

This deal went down late summer and Tom, I am sure as a courtesy to Mr. Snyder showed up with Katie at one of the early season Redskin games. The local media were all over it.. Katie looked bored to tears..and didn't seem to be enjoying it at all.. Of course Tom was in his sucking up mode to his benefactors.. I'm sure Tom and Katie don't give a hoot about the Redskins!

Just seemed strange..Poor Katie was going through the motions..

Well I am suprised about Oprah since he has spent so much time on her show or was it "Just Business"

His dear future wife is young and you know when you are young and in love you think they are perfect-- oh but we do wake up don't we.

I do get the idea he is controlling though and kinda like its his way or the hi-way. Seems more and more women do not like him. I know in my workout class--I could not find anyone that did.

You know he did not even tell Nicole that he was leaving her and divorcing her instead he sent someone to tell her and I wondered if it was someone from his religion.

I thought soon after his breakup with Nicole, wasn't he dating one of his costars from a movie.. I think it was Penelope Cruz.. I think they dated about 3 years or so..

(Now that would have been funny if they had gotten married..Cruz and Cruise! LOL!)

It was Penelope Cruz. She's a member of Scientology as well but she's seems pretty independant.

I thought it was a horrible way to let her know he didn't want to be in the marriage any more. She was 3 months pregnant when it was announced to her and she later miscarried the child.

I am not impressed with the man... Sure he's got looks and money and not above helping someone in distressed but on the whole he's someone I would idolize.
