I'm going to watch, just out of morbid curiosity. It comes on at 7 pm on satellite here What gets me is that Oprah owns that network (well, a third of it, anyhoo), and she's always spouting all that positive spiritual stuff, much like Iyanla did, and she's allowing this stuff to go. Very few reality shows are for self improvement. Actually, since SO was cancelled, are there any? DTV doesn't get Style Network, which. according to another site, has a show called Shopaholic 911, and the shopaholic who was on and graduated (miraculously) at the end of season 4 was on that show.

The most tragic reality show of all was Fixing Bonaduce.

Well maybe there'd be hope if she owned a majority of the company.. I'm sure she was bought in more as a name recognition to get the station off the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave her the third...

I found the founders page on Oxygen..
http://www.oxygen.com/basics/founders.aspx

Oprah's description that she wanted somewhere where she could kick off her shoes.... And that is the show that they air or used to air.. Oprah after hours. I doubt she has any input on Oxygen's shows.. Although I wish she did... Maybe she does, but she's still a minority voice.. Sounds like the CEO is the main decision maker.. Oprah being a cofounder, could just mean she helped bankroll the project or would lend her name and after hours show. I mean it was a neat concept .

i checked Oxygen's schedule and looks like the Oprah after hours is now only shown on Saturday afternoons.. Once a week seems odd since it used to be on much more frequently or seemed to be.

I seemed to recall earlier on in the networks life..that they used to show positive movies..and some of Oprah's were shown on there. Both those she starred in and those her production company created. I don't remember seeing any in a long time!.

I can't find anything to reflect any current involvement other than the after hours project once a week. She's listed strictly as cofounder even in the wikipedia.. Oxygen was someone else's dream..and I just think she was bought on board.. for publicity.

I found this link rather funny reading. It was written early on in Oxygen's debut season. Talks about the programming and intention of the network.

Seems like much has changed.. although I think the network wasn't quite the author's cup of tea...

Now I know why they show the particular sitcoms they do... They were projects that the CEO was involved with... So I am sure she's partial.. Marcy Carsey's projects too! (since she was listed in the founders page!)

While searching... on this topic I notice that rarely were the other 2 women mentioned.. Especially the CEO... Marcy Carsey's name I recognize from her string of sitcoms.. I'm sure the station is fine with using Oprah's name... It is a household name..and people would give the station more credit by being in anyway associated with it. I just hope she pulls the support soon. I see the station going down a negative path... Especially compared to the roots of it's original programming.

Thanks for the links, KPW. Excellent critique of the Oxy. net. Great sense of humor. That was the best review of any show or network I've ever read.

Watched Bad Girls last night. It's on at 7 here. Still had a difficult time staying awake. It should be called The Lowlife Wallow Club. First show and they've all got their alliances formed. From now on it will be a contest to see which alliance can sink lower than the other. Loved the Alkie in denial though. Let's see if she lives til the end of the show.

I noticed Ty's new myspace for the badgirlsclub may not be doing too much or going anywhere.. Last comment was Dec. 5th.. Pretty much the typical 'thanks for the addy' and generic comments..

Looks like she stopped adding friends just under 3000! Maybe she recognizes an exercise in futility when she sees it..

Aside from the variety.com review.. I haven't seen any chatter about the show..Even at Realityworld...

Since I don't have Oxygen anymore.. I don't know how well they are promoting the show..

OMG, just checked the websites show page..and they are actually promoting people to sign up to be part of the Badgirlsclub...

It's almost laughable if it wasn't so absurd.

Anyone up for seeing show # 2? I think Oxygen ordered 22 episodes... Not sure if it will be weekly or what.. See if it makes it past January. Especially if it starts pulling down more bad reviews like Variety's...

I wonder if the show is getting any decent ratings. But the network is keeping Campus Ladies, and that show about women who murder, so why not bad girls club? Yes, there is a place for everyone on TV, including human female sewer rats.
