I'm hearing as many as 17,000 people have been evacuated.. If I remember right, Debby may be from that area.

Thanks for the prayers. Yes, that chemical explosion was about 17 miles from my house. It occured in a town just outside of Raleigh, called Apex. It is still a very serious situation. I kept the tv on all night and everytime I woke up the situation sounded worse.


There was a gas cloud over the fire that was was very toxic, that's why half the town was evacuated. I was okay, but the thought of those fumes going into the atmosphere scares me. How do they know it's safe to breath the air, even now. I guess we have to trust the professionals at their word. I would fear going back to a home that is near the scene.

All of our local channels have had NON-Stop coverage of the fire since last night at about 11:00 pm.....no national news at all, no tv shows at all, just local coverage, and I expect that to continue until the state of emergency is lifted, So'll be renting movies this weekend.

Glad you are okay... I heard they didn't want to add water to the fire until they knew what else they were dealing with. Always better to be safe than sorry... But it is scary... You don't know how long the after affects might linger.

If you are looking for video ideas... I noticed that The Lake House (Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reaves) is out. I wanted to see it when it was at the movies.. I hear you either love it or ya hate it.. But it definitely sounded like a chick flick. I still want to see it...but I didn't want to buy it when I saw it at Costco.

We need a movie forum! I'm always looking for good recommendations. I can't personally recommend the Lake House.. The commercials appealed to me.. and I like Sandra Bullock.. She is from Northern Va! Another hometown hero besides Katie Couric...
