Setting the scene:

Ok, Watched the last episode of the Marriage Starting Over and couldn't wait to see all the new ladies enter the house on today's episode. I have my kids down to nap, cleaned up what I needed to and scheduled my morning so I could sit and relax and watch my one hour of ME TIME TV! And some stupid woman comes on! Some Malalay chick talking about nothing worth anything! I frantically search the TV guide.

It's been weeks now and I still cannot find where they put my show!! What in the heck happened. They advertised it all the time as the hottest reality daytime tv show and "poof" it's gone.

I went serching for the show and found you guys. Where did the show go? Why did they drop it? Is it coming back? What's going on?

Welcome Joy... According to Rhonda's blog B/M (Bunim-Murray)didn't renew her contract... and the show was never officially cancelled..

B/M has another show in development amazingly similar that is scheduled to debut this winter on Oxygen. It's called Bad Girls and will revolve around 6 women who live in a house together (in L.A. too no less!) hoping to reform their bad girl ways... According to one report, B/M wanted to capitalize on everyone's fascination with the bad girls in many of the reality shows... Supposedly there will be some celebrity's and non celebrity's.. No mention of how they are supposed to reform their bad girl status..

To me and I presume others..they are just trying to up the drama and blend in with the umpteen other reality shows.

There was a rumor that Rhonda and Dr. Stan might be collaborating on something. Not sure if there is any truth to that or not... but sure hope so! Iyanla apparently had no plans to return to any further season.. I gather from the various blogs and comments that both Rhonda and Iyanla were disenchanted with production problems and probably editing as well.

If you look around the site..and especially the home page, you'll see some numbers you might call and let your displeasure be known to NBC Studios (syndicated division). Maybe they have the means to pull together some sort of replacement show.

The couples you saw was just a rerun of what was done prior to the start of SO3. I think anyway...

Welcome to the community... Unfortunately not much current chatter.. I check the blogs occasionally and see if there is any updates on the ladies we've grown to love and respect.

We all miss SO!

kpw, you keep posting that the show was never "officially cancelled". Yes it was. And please quit telling people to call these long distance numbers. It is a waste of their money.
The show is gone, it is never coming back. SO no longer exists. We need to move on. Watch Dr. Phil or that Ablow guy.
Yes, we all really enjoyed the show. But it is over.
I really don't mean to be mean about this, but it is wrong to tell people that there is even the slightest chance of SO coming back.
Its NOT! Please people do not waste your hard earned money leaving messages on a phone line that no one checks.

I have to agree with mejustme. And it actually does say on the home page not to bother calling anymore.
There is a message board where employees from SO post and they have commented on the show being officially ended.
I have gone through favorite show withdrawal many times before and I must say that I have never seen an "official announcement" of any show being cancelled. The powers that be just start promoting the replacement show.

What's your problem?

Rhonda herself via her blog said that the show was never officially cancelled... We've never seen NBC or a B/M notice either that it was cancelled.

The numbers are on the front page of the forum...

Dr. Ablow's show is on a totally different channel and time in the D.C. area... In SO's place they are showing a cooking show... the first half hour and then some sort of show which is more or less an infomercial... This is during the noon hour.. Maybe my local station never found a better replacement.

Many of us have looked for official cancellation notices. Most shows and networks do have news releases advising of that well before the end of a season..

NBC can't sell or promote what B/M isn't producing.

NBC and/or Bunim Murray should have been forthright with their intentions...and be clear about it.

I'm still waiting to see an official notice myself. If you have the link... please provide it.

PS: I'm editing since someone else posted.. that my reply was directed to mejustme. I'll also add that if it was NBC's place to promote the show they didn't do a very good job..

There is no doubt that SO employees say and know the show is officially over... It was just never established who made the decisions... It wasn't SO...
(although we know Iyanla had already made a commitment not to return.)

Post edited by: KPW1956, at: 2006/10/05 10:50

gosh, such anger.
I don't know if that was directed to me or mejustme.

Are you saying that you actually think the show is coming back?
You can't be serious. And you realize don't you that shows are not necessarily replaced with the same kind of show. Since there is no other show like SO, it would be impossible to replace it with a show of the same format.

I don't want to speak for mejustme, but I think what we are both saying is you are the one person on this board that keeps telling posters that there is a chance in heck that the show is coming back.

And you show us one example of an "official cancellation notice" of ANY show. Shows are simply not renewed.

I don't know about anyone else, but it appears to me that you do this so that posters will keep coming back to "check on the status".
