Hey guys............did you see yesterday? I was VERY impressed with Elizabeth during hot topics. They were discussing the very hot topic of Michael J. Fox and stem-cell research. And Elizabeth said that she thinks there is a middle ground, a balance between the two extremes that can be explored. I was very proud of her.....I think she is growing and figuring out her own stand.

Let me just say something here, though. I believe everyone most definitely does have the right to stand up for what they truly believe in. Let's face it...........we're just not all going to agree!!! In fact I've found myself agreeing with ALL of the ladies in various topics! BUT....my problem with Elizabeth was NOT her viewpoints and that she stands up for them..............it was for the fact that she was just mimicking what she "should" believe in because of party politics and often so many of these issues are clouded with party lines and truly are bi-partisan!!! So that's what I'm proud of...that she really is trying to explore other possibilities and be open-minded and then take a stand she believes in!!! This is how I'm raising my children too.

In the words of a great country song:

"You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything!"

P.S. I love the hot topics and all the great conversations we have here at SOT!!!! Keep it all comin' y'all!!!!!

Yeah, Grizzlys4, I also like(d) seeing Elizabeth be more open-minded and I really always feel so badly for her because her beliefs and views are so very different from the rest of the panel.
She is young and is still in the process of formulating her opinions but at least THANK GOD she is interested in politics. Most people her age, (at least those that I have met) are not at all interested in politics and don't have ANY opinions so I appreciate the fact that she tries to stick up for what she believes in. I don't agree with her but I admire her conviction to the point that I will listen to her point of view.

I think they need to find at least ONE other panel member who is more in the middle - they are all pretty left to me in their political/social views.

I didn't see yesterday's show, but I agree with what you are saying. "Party politics" or tunnel vision is what I believe makes sane people take off their thinking caps and go along with a herd mentality... in other words... not everything is black or white... or because you belong to either the Democratic or Republican party... one may simply not agree with everything that party may represent. So... it's nice to hear that Elizabeth is using her noodle, and thinking for herself.

Rats! I missed another show I wanted to see. Either I forgot to tape it or it was interupted with a news conference. That seems to happen too much at 11:00 a.m., which is when this show comes on here.

I do think Elisabeth has toned herself down this season, but, her job on that show is to represent the conservative view. I think she may be stuck doing that for as long as she is employed there. If she changes her political opinions she may be out of a job.

I would have loved to see the discussion on stem cell research. As a Type I diabetic, it is my hope for life. I know it is a touchy subject, but many long standing Republicans are in favor of it, so, I don't think it is a strictly political issue.

I laughed so hard when Bill O'Riley was on the show a week or so ago! It was soooo funny, regardless of how you feel about him. As he sat between Rosie and Joy, it was the first time I ever saw him appear to be scared! LOL. You had to see it.

Barbara makes it a point to not vocalize her political views. I respect her sort of being the moderator and staying neutral.

I happened to see the Parade Magazine in my Sunday paper. It had a blip about Rosie's role in the show... I thought the panel has gotten along pretty well... What I've seen anyway. Even when Star was on... they managed to have somewhat of a united front. I do see Rosie trying to contain herself at times.. or making snide remarks.. This article pretty much says it's Barbara's call.. and if anything it might be Joy Behar that quits..

On another note. Watched some of the top of the show today. They were talking about costumes and taboo.. Joy mentioned that it's still taboo to dress up as Jayne Mansfield. What sparked the conversation was the fact that Bill Maher had dressed up as Steve Irwin with a stingray barb in his chest. What was the man thinking? Did he seriously think he'd get a laugh?

I noticed Kathie Lee cohosting today... Have they said anything recently about filling the other chair permanently? I haven't heard anything in quite awhile. They don't even seem to be auditioning. Maybe they are waiting for someone to be available.. (waiting for a contract to be fulfilled on someones current job.. ) Just surprised there hasn't been any chatter.

Also, any news on Star lately? She seems to have disappeared.
