Allison's Condition 2 Years ago Karma: 0
When Allison came back into the house for the second time she went to a doctor and was complaining of her muscles feeling tight and she was diagnosed with a condition. What was the condition she was diagnosed with? Does anyone remember? Thanks for your help!

The only condition I can remember was lymphadema. It has something to do with swelling and tightening of the skin. There is no cure but there are treatments. There may have been other disorders she suffered after her second surgery that I cannot recall.

I don't recall any of that...

I will say that lymphedema has to do with the lymphatic system. It can be problematic when lymph nodes are taken out during mastectomy or chemo therapy damage.. (I think more often to their removal during surgery)

I don't recall her having a problem with it... but maybe it is something that just keeps getting more and more compromised as time and stress on the body occurrs.

I lost a friend in August after she had battled cancer for 10 years.. she developed lymphedema just this year though.. But she'd had her surgery years ago and numerous therapies since then..

I sure hope if Allison is dealing with Lymphedema that it doesn't mean she is having more cancer issues complications.

(lymphedema and ensuing fluid build up would cause tightening of the skin... It's actually quite painful!)

I should have added that my friend's treatment consisted of tight wrappings and specially fitted stockings and sleeves.. My friends started in one arm and then down one leg, and ultimately to both of the other limbs and then the fluid build up began in her abdomen... ultimately creating pressure on her vital organs. Those were the complications that seemed to hasten her passing.. They were able to drain off my friend's lungs a couple of times.

People can have lymphedema even if they've never had cancer. but it's usually more localized and not progressive.
