People in this world are just unbelieveable. I just discovered that at a school near my home town, a female school teacher has been charged with having sex with a fifth grade student on school property. To top that, she was dating the child's fathers. I expect this story to make national news. It's in Johnston County, NC.

omg debby i couldn't believe that when i read it; a 5th grader. that is just beyond sick! and here her lawyer is making the claim that her bail should be reduced ($750 000) or whatever because she needs to be with her small children?!?! if this was a male sex offender you can bet no one would have the gall to suggest such a thing!

I know, it's unreal. Is it just me or does there seem to be a rise in the number of young women 20-30's who are discovered to have had sex with young boys 11-17? Did this happen so much years ago and noone reported it or is it a new thing? How could a grown woman desire sex with a little child. I don't get it. I didn't even know it was possible for that to physically happen.

I do think that when a woman does it, we think she is just touched in the mind and needs therapy but when a man does it we label him a pedophile and want to castrate him and/or lock him up forever.

I don't know if there are many studies on female sexual offenders. Do we know what makes them tick?

i did a quick search on a psychological studies database, and there were a few things that came up. the abstract for this publication seems particularly relevant:

Reviews the book, Choices: A Relapse Prevention Workbook for Female Offenders by Charlene Steen (see record 2006-02436-000). When someone says "sex offender," what comes to mind? For most Americans, the term sex offender is immediately associated with men, not women. This assumption is, in large part, supported by U.S. Department of Justice statistics that suggest that the vast majority of sex offenders are men and that women account for a very small percentage of the rapes and sexual assaults committed in this country (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2003). Nevertheless, some women do commit sex offenses. Because the pattern of female offending is often different than the pattern of male offending, in terms of type of victim, reasons for committing the offense, and history of the offender, women may need treatment interventions that are tailored to their particular issues and needs. Charlene Steen's Choices: A Relapse Prevention Workbook for Female Offenders is intended to provide this gender-specific treatment. Designed to be used as a part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes both individual and group therapy components, it is touted as the first treatment workbook written specifically for female offenders. It serves as a valuable resource and one that is very much needed in the field of sex offender treatment. Choices is a useful and effective tool for practitioners working with female sex offenders. Although females make up a minority of sex offenders, some researchers have suggested that their numbers will continue to increase as society becomes more aware of the fact that women can and do commit sex offenses (LaFond, 2005); this awareness will likely lead to an increase in the willingness of victims to report such offenses and of the justice system to prosecute and punish the offenders. So, although female sex offenders may not currently compose a large portion of the treatment population, the changing nature of this population may soon increase the necessity of resources like the Choices workbook. it's interesting. sick, but interesting...

scw............thanks for sharing the info you found!!

I didn't spare a second for that perv..........because I just couldn't stomach even seeing him again. I agree with you all that it's very obvious he's harmed and potentially killed children. Honestly I feel like I turn into a different person when I see/hear, etc. anyone like this because I honestly want them to suffer horrendously the same torture and suffering that they committed. I know, it's a shockingly blood-thirsty side of me that rarely comes out..................

I'm really starting to think that Ablow guy is a total PERV too from what you all have said about him and his actions and subject matter!!

Thanks for that info SCW. It seems as if the woman child sex abuser is a different animal from the male. One thing seems to be the same though. They both don't seem to be able to stop themself, even after they get caught.
