:Also, I once tried a "Natural Progesterone Cream" I ordered over the internet and it actually seemed to work but I kept forgetting to use it consistently and in the back of my mind it bothered me to be using someting, (it's a topical application) that I hadn't discussed with a doctor.
Fortunately I am on the other side of the meno-wars.....
However, I can NOT stress enough about self-medicating, especially women with hormones.
EVERYONE needs to have their bloodwork,/hormone levels checked by a doc, BEFORE they take any OTC like "Estroven", or the "Natural Progesterone" cream.
Every woman is different, we are not at all alike, even tho we may have same symptoms, some need more estrogen, others more progest.
My sis, (does this ALL the time, drives me up a wall), calls me and tells me about the Yam/Emu cream/oils she's using because, "it helped a girl she knows at church".
As if they have the same 'faith' therefore they need the same meds?!?!?!?!?!?!? <booggogogogogogled> <OUCH!!>
I think she thinks, that being a 'Christian' adds ALL the level of truth/experience/education as a doctor. HA!
I tried the Estrovent, years ago, made me whackier than hell.
I wound up going thru meno, 7-8 years of it, (some on fertility drugs, so mega doses at times...), cold turkey, except for taking Black Cohosh for about 7-8 months, for hot flashes from hell.
Literally. It would be freezing back in NJ, 12" snow on ground, and I have to strip to tank top, 'daisy dukes', and barefoot, walking up and down our driveway in order to cool off at times.
So, to answer your question, I've heard great things about it, but I've also heard horror stories. Have your doc let you know which one you need, estrogen or progesterone, (total opposites, virtually), then ask if there are any 'natural' vitamins/supplements/etc. that they recommend. I've been very lucky that my pharm. is also very much into the more 'natural' way to go, rather than horse urine...<bah>
Once you know which one, (and there are many mitigating factors), you need more of and try to include EATING in a healthy diet, if not then supplement.
All the best of luck with it.....
