Starting Over Talk

He was on the show today playing himself and is supposed to me a guest on Erica's Talk Show.

Debbie... I think the longetivity to Donnys attractiveness...is that he has an inner quality to him.. and he hasn't seemed to lose his sensibilities even though he has been hugely successful! He seems like a humble and likable fellow...that isn't full of himself as some of the other big stars seem to get to be..

I do like Donny... but just not to the degree I did as a preteen and teen ager.. So I meant for me it "was puppy love".. (I was making a pun regarding his famous song about "Puppy love".!) Since I am a couple years older than Donny...

I remember having crushes on several teen stars... Me and a girlfriend couldn't wait to rush to the store to get the newest 16 magazine each month! I had crushes on Davy Jones, Sajid Khan, (he starred in a short lived series with Jay North called Maya), I also remember having a crush on Barry Cowsill, David Cassidy..and probably a few I don't remember.. Donny was certainly among the heartthrobs too! Only Donny has managed to achieve a good bit of diversity with his career... All the while seemingly with feet firmly planted. I heard him say not too long ago when he was on The View or another show..that he is a grandfather now.

Amazing... Makes me feel like I'm getting old!

Sorry for being OT... I think he seems like he has alot of fun whether it's hosting a game show or doing a broadway show.. He always has a smile on his face...and it seems genuine!

That is what is so refreshing and endearing about him.

Maybe I'll have to tune into the show after many many years of not watching it. I got hooked on it in the early 80's for a couple of years.. Just to pique my curiosity!

Wow, KPW. We would have made fast friends back in the day. I can't believe you remember Maya! I loved that show, though I didn't have a crush on the actor. I loved the elephant.

I did love the others you mentioned and also, Tony Defranco of the The Defranco's. (A Heartbeat is a Love Beat). LOL. But after Bobby and David, Donny hit the seen and he was my very favorite from then on. However, in 1994 I became acqainted with the music of Led Zepplin and became a huge fan of Robert Plant!!! I know it's seems crazy but I do still adore both performers although they are so far apart musically.

I did see Donny on AMC on Friday. I taped it by mistake thank goodness. OMG. I think they were implying that he was interested in Erica. He kept asking questions about her marital status. I think he was very attracted to her. I think she is nearly old enough to be his mother but who cares?
I think it would be a great storyline for him to develop a crush on her, although, I don't think they will since he is playing himself and he would not want to bring disgrace to his wife. He seems to be very devoted to his wife and family. But if he were to play say, an evil twin, I would love to see some steamy action on AMC with Donny and Erica. He's never done that kind of role before. I wish he would stretch a little. Of course he is still hot looking to me. I''m taping again today!

2 other heartthrobs that come to mind... from the old days..

When you mentioned bobby, wasn't sure who you were referring to..but prompted me to think of Bobby Sherman.. (Here come the Brides).. I also thought of David Selby from Dark Shadows! teenage crushes can be so fickle! and fun too!

As for older dudes when I was a teen.. I always loved James Darren (Moondoggie, from the gidget movies), Frankie Avalon from the Beach movies (w/Annette Funnicello)..oh of course... Michael Landon as little Joe on Bonanza was a cutie pie! He never did lose his handsome looks!

Maybe this would be a fun separate thread! I know those a bit younger than us grew up with crushes!

I know there was a tour of these guys going around a year or 2 ago... Bobby Sherman, Davy Jones and a few others from yesteryear.. I'll have to see if they are still touring. Probably not..

Oh, and as far as AMC... How many times has Erica been married? I would think that would make most men leery of her if that were a similar situation in real life.. But then again it's a soap opera!

Are there any AMC trivia buffs who know? I think it is more than 8... but wouldn't swear to it..
