This is all so scary to hear. Hearing all this stuff that’s happened and the latest it make me not want to fly. I’m just too scared to. It’s kind of silly to say but I’m like one of those people that think that when I get on that plane something is bound to happen. It’s been several months since I flown… and now I’m not sure if I want to for a while. It’s one thing after the next! What are they going to come up with next..

Oh I don’t want to think that there is but …. Sheeesh.

( Why does you new av make me think of pie and chips!!! )

I was never crazy about flying either! Was already jumpy at the least little "unusual" noise!!! Once, a guy in the aisle seat opposite to mine seemed to be constantly lifting the lid of his briefcase, and peering in, as if he was checking on something...he was also sweating profusely..,and I was really getting anxious!! Then, I heard him asking the flight attendant about the altitude!!! I was starting to shake, petrified...then it became clear that he was a first time flier!!! DUH! I felt like a real twit, and spent the rest of the flight sending him reassuring smiles!! I shudder to think how I would do in the current climate... Oddly enough though, I wasn't as nervous the next time I flew...go figure!!

I have been trying to plan a trip to the west coast for some of my family to visit other family memeber we have there for over a year. Health issues and other family matters have caused us to postpone several times. Now, I don't know if I should keep trying. I don't know that the stress I would go through would be worth it, especially traveling with children.

Flying from NC, we would no doubt have a connecting flight either in Chicago, Atlanta or Dallas. I must carry on 2 different kinds of insulin in addition to a liquid enzyme that isn't insulin but helps it work. So I would have to explain three different kinds of liquids.

Has anyone driven from the east coast to Sacramento before? How long do you think that would take? No, I'm not kidding. I'm thinking of renting an RV, but, then you must consider the gas prices. MY, MY, MY!

Ceildh, I didn't know you were diabetic. I'm type I. I'd like to hear more about your situation. I may start a thread under the health section.

this is probably a moot point now, but I was travelling (by air) the DAY after this threat came about, along with the new rules of travel and I have to say the airport I travelled through, (CA and Seattle) were both well prepared for the new rules and we moved quickly through the security process. Frankly, the only people who slowed down the process were those clueless few who apparently don't watch the news who tried to bring on fluids and had to get rid of them at the security line, thus slowing down the process. Otherwise, it was seamless.
