Well, here we go again with terrorist plots, and the ensuing airport headaches. Guess the plan this time was to blow up planes over the Atlantic. As the plot was apparently "foiled" I'm not sure why we are on "severe" alert. I think fear and panic is the other part of the agenda, and it usually works. Foiled plans....doesn't that mean the plan didn't work? They want to create chaos...better safe than sorry, I know...but sometimes I think that we play into their hands.
What do you think?

I haven't seen or heard anything about where/when exactly this was supposed to happen. And, the news that has come out so far indicates that not all of the terrorists involved have been captured.
The entire country is not on "high" alert. Yes, sometimes we do play into their hands but the alternative is not getting the news out.
Personally, I have 2 domestic flights planned this month, I am not going to let this stop me. I wouldn't let it stop me from flying internationally either.
Take this to a micro level - if there were savage, psychotic criminals plotting in your community, how much information would you want to have? How much would you expect your local law enforcement to do?

No, that wasn't my point! I meant that the terrorists...intend...to cause fright and chaos....that they get a "result" even IF the plans are foiled. Got two different "status of alert" statements in ONE press conference this morning!! From the lips of the Director of Homeland Security!! I sometimes think that the ...intent...is just to cause chaos and disruption...and how many airlines have folded due to that? I'm glad that you are not going to let that stop you taking your trips!! But, there have already been those interviewed who feel differently!

You are correct. I've been in the Emergency Services field for years, and we spent a lot of time learning about/preparing for terrorist threats on all levels. The intent to cause the chaos and confusion and the stopping of normalcy IS a huge agenda for them!!!



And while we most definitely need to be aware and cautious, media at times can overdramatize the threats............or any event, really!!!
