Does anyone know if Dr. Stan is married to wife number one or if this is a subsequent marriage? I have read that he has five children. I wonder if he had these children with the same mother and if that is who he is married to now.

The reason I ask is that when he lead a discussion in group one day, he prefaced it by saying "some of us have experienced divorce." or something pretty close to that, which inferred that he had personal knowledge. I'm not sure if it was in Season 2 or 3. I think it was when Kim, Towanda and Josie were in the house. (Season 2)

It wasn't clear if he meant "he" had personally experienced a divorce or that his parents went through the divorce amd he was familar with its consequences in that way. His words indicated that he was more familar with divorce than just treating patients or knowing people who are divorced.

I don't know for sure.. 'if' he was divorced, I get the impression that he has been in his current marriage for quite along time. The bios that I find for him all end with the same statement...

That "he lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Ilene Presant and their 5 children." (I think he had all girls and that at least a couple of the older ones met with a couple of SO2 women about daughter father issues since that seemed to be a common theme last year. And this one too it seems to some degree.

here is a link to his bio. I get the impression he may be 50-55 and I'm sure his early years were busy acquiring his professional training. Of course some times the stress of a demanding career and schedule can cause marriages to fail too.. So he may have been briefly married in his younger years. (or his own parents had divorced or had prior marriages. ) My father was married before and I have 3 half siblings.

He may have been speaking as a group and that he was inferring their parents had all divorced and the inadverdant effect it had on them when they were growing up.

I remember one episode, I'm not sure if it was a summer special or a regular one, in which Dr. Stan interviewed 2 of his daughters in the SOH. They were quite charming and looked to be in their mid-late teens.

Do you know how many times that Rhonda and Iyanla have been married? I thought I heard Rhonda say once.

oh i know that one... I think I saw her imdb page and it mentions 2 marriages. Coincidentally... both of them named Carl.

Another CRAZY coincidence... Iyanla's birth name... is Rhonda...
Iyanla later became a Yoruba princess...

I think I originally found a lengthy bio about how she was raised and the adversity as well.. at her site..but it's not there now and I can't locate it. You'll just have to take my word for it.. Until I can find something to back it up. I know I bought up the tidbit before because I was quite flabbergasted when I saw it!

WOW! I thought I already knew alot about Iyanla, but, this article really surprised me. I encourage all of you to read it.
