I have just noticed something on right hand side of the page that looks like a signup for something from this site.

I thought SOT already had our email addresses...

What would you be sending out since SO is now behind us... (at least as we know it..) and SO is in reruns..but for a short while.

Is this possibly a ploy from an advertiser and not something really sanctioned by the site?

Hopefully SOT protects that info. I don't plan to sign up as I am not aware that there is any official news or newletters. I really think it is a marketing ploy...

Yes, I already have people's email addresses but that doesn't mean they want to receive a newletter from SOT. I have begun sending invitations to members through email also. Everybody should be receive their invite by this weekend.

The SOT Email Newsletter is currently in the works and the 1st one should be sent out next week.

Nobody is forcing you to sign up. That is your choice.

Whew...that's a relief... (that someone isn't phishing for our addresses for other purposes. ) I'm interested in hearing about the SOT news and look forward to the email which hopefully will explain it.

I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. It's just that it showed up suddenly and I didn't see anything mentioned about it in a post... and it wasn't anything like we'd seen or had in the past.

Tara, if we sign up for the SOT Newsletter, is our e-mail address still protected and held private? Just curious because of the location of the sign up and the submit space.
