Messes have been getting a bad rap for a long time. I think they are misundertood and we are entirely too intolerant. I mean, where's the respect fo diversity here? Maybe some magazines feel better on the floor, ya know?

Oh Ser, I sooooooooo know!!!!! In fact, I have some that like the living room floor and some that prefer the floorboard of the cars!!!

I'm cool woith my own messes. It's OPM that drive me crazy.

I do think I'm about to go to war on junk mail, though. At one time, I had it in mind to write a program that just collects their 800 numbers and dials them randomly again and again for no reason. I've also heard you can tape their postage paid envelopes to a brick and send them back. But I never tried it - seems like a lot of hassle, especially if you have a litterbox.

The two most annoying at present are the offers in Spanish. Apparently, my demographics say that I don't fully appreciate the English language. The other thing is the people who tape crap to my mailbox, advertising everything from Chinese take-out to tree removal (pretty funny - I live smack in the middle of a forest).

It took me two years to get the local newspaper to stop piling up newspapers on my lawn that I couldn't retrieve. Now I'm going after the "tapers". I thought that maybe a sign on the box would get it done. Got any snappy ideas?

Maybe put up a sign that says:

Do NOT leave any materials of any type affixed in any way on this property. Violators will be reported and action taken in a civil suit for property damage.



Do you think that sounds official and threatening enough????? I'd like to put one up too, but I'm not sure if it'd actually work. But isn't our own property our own??? The ridiculous ads on my house and on my windshield are definitely the cause for much of the litter around here when the wind picks up every single afternoon!!!!

Okay, am I a bit obvious that this is one of my pet peeves??

Call the company that taped their flyer to your mailbox---have them come out like they are going to get "the job" and then have them remove the paper. Tell them next time they "post" anything to your mailbox you will have a suit for distruction of property. When you tape something to the box and it sits in the sun all day and then pull it off----off comes the paint! Then the rust sets in!
As for the mailers----put nothing in the envelopes and send it back to them. They have to pay postage to have it sent back. No they won't know who sent it back to them, but maybe after having enough sent out and sent back then maybe, just maybe they will get the hint--probably not!
As for callers---have you seen the e-mail of the man who is sitting down for dinner---someone calls and of course it is a tell-a-marker. He asks the caller if he knows this person, and ask him what is his affilication with him, then he says "Make sure that you take alot of pictures, especially where the blood is." Then he says to the marketer, "We need your name and number please, so that we may further this crime and your calling this person. You must know him."
I have never done that one before--will have to try. I usually turn the caller around and ask him/her many questions! Like--Are you married--if not why? Got any kids? Are they a problem? And the good ol Dr. Phil's line "Hows that working for you!" Some hang up real quick! Use your imagination! That way you will have some "fun" with them.
