Wow...
I love House Hunters too.. I wouldn't think that she'd feel like she has to rush out to line something else up so quickly? Why wouldn't she just wait and see what opportunities come up. I thought she was pretty well off.. She is very talented and I would think House Hunters would not be real stepping stone. Maybe she is just a fan of the show too...and wanting to do some fun type projects.
Funny that after the interview at LK last week and Friday mornings blurb at one of the networks,...info seems to have dried up.
Was anything said at The View in response to the LK episode?

I either watch or TIVO "The View" daily. I really liked Meredith Viera and still enjoy Barbara Walters and Joy Bayhar, Elizabeth I could take or leave. Quite frankly, I never really liked Starr Jones, but for a long time I just sort of didn't care either way if she was on the air or not. Over time, Starr's "Diva Behavior" really began to annoy me...frankly, I am happy to no longer have to endure listening to her, much less watching her. I watched the Larry King interview and I found Starr to be annoying and quite dishonnest during this interview. It seemed obvious that Starr knew that her antics were not winning her any new support from viewers and decided to change her tactics...IMO...Too Little Too Late. It will be interesting to see where her career goes from here.
As for "The View", no mention of Starr has been made since Barbara made her statement the day after Starr left. Actually, the show has been much better since Starr's departure.

I agree Lauren. I think that the hidden secret the panel was keeping for the last several months put a strain on them. Now that the cat is out of the bag, they can breath easier, at least about Star. If I were Elisabeth and Joy, I would be quite wary about my job. They are probably asking themself, how they will be treated if their contract is not renewed. I don't think I could feel comfortable there unless I had a substantial amount of time left on my contract.
I think there may be more shake ups after Rosie arrives. I think Joy really ticked off Barbara yesterday with that George Bush joke. Barbara baited Joy over and over and eventually Joy made a joke that was quite shocking. I'm choosing not to state my personal opinion on the joke because politics are soooo touchy right now and I don't want to get into that issue on this board, however, I think Joy probably got a tanning from Barbara after that show. I'm referring to when Joy did a heil Hilter salute and simultaneously wished Geroge Bush Happy Birthday. To put it in context, the panel was discussing German men vs. Swedish men.
I guess you had to be there. But, I think something is up there.
Did you see it Lauren?

Yes, Debbie, I did watch The View yesterday. Part of what I have always enjoyed about this show is that the panel is "Free" to present different view points and even speak irrevorantly at times. I was not offended by Joy's joke as it has always been Joy's (role) to be a bit outrageous.
As for the rest of the crew needing to be afraid for their jobs, I disagree. The powers that be at TV did not fire Starr, they chose not to reneiw her contract. That's business. Anyone that has ever worked as a contractor knows that sometimes, contracts are simply not renewed. As far as how Starr was treated, I see nothing wrong with how it was handled. In fact, it sounds like Starr was offered a graceful way in which to say her good byes. Starr chose to take matters in to her own hands and it blew up in her face.
As far as Rosie coming on the show, time will tell. I have mixed thoughts regarding her.

I think it was good for Star to go, however, I disagree with the charade The View wanted Star to participate in as she exited. While I like Barbara in general, Star's departure does loom in my mind and I wouldn't put too much stake in what Barbara or the network told me about my position on that show if I were a panel host such as Joy and Elisabeth.
Star agrees that not to renew an employee's contract is a business decision. She accepts that. But to insist she sit on the show for months on end and pretend that it is a big happy family is a joke and then to add insult to injury by insisting that she lie about why she is leaving, is outrageous. Star's departure annoucnment was fine. All of the drama that occurred afterwards was silly and in my opinion the doings of Barbara and NBC. Of course, that's water under the bridge. Star will move on with her little projects and get lucky with a hit show or just fade away.
Did you hear who Regis is plugging to fill Star's shoes? Kathie Lee!!
I wonder if Kathie Lee is privy to this. I think it would be great!! What a panel that would be.

Hmmm....I did hear that the network told Starr that she could say what ever she chose as far as her leaving and that the network would back her up. I think this is very from "insisting that she lie". As far as letting her know in April that her contract would not be renewed in August, was more than fair. This would allow
Starr ample time to find other projects. As far a "forcing Starr to sit there for months, as a professional and work out her contract", again, in my opinion, Starr should be greatful for the time given to her, rather than waiting until the last minute and cutting her off at the knees.
Also, remember that Starr premeditativly gave an interview to People magazine prior to her announcement, blinding Barbara. Frankly, if I were BW and the network, I would have done the same thing. Enough to say that I have no sympathy for Starr, I do not trust a word she says.
No, I had not heard about Kathie Lee, that would make for an interesting mix ! I would prefer that they find some one more like Meredith, a journalist, with a great wit!
