I've checked out the cites that are listed on this thread and I don't believe they are about THE Allison Stanley from SO. The one with the poetry or whatever it is, is totally not Allison. As far as the perfomer goes, I don't think that is her either. The venue depicted in that article is in the mountains of NC. I'll check it out further if I have time, but, I don't know that it really matters that much. That type of music doesn't fit Allison's personality, IMO.
I'm not sure what the big to do is about the insurance comment. I made a similar comment to my doctor the other week. He asked me how I purchased my diabetic testing supplies. I said, I order them from a diabetic supply company, they file the insurance claim and send me a bill for a percentage of the total. One shipment usually runs over $1,100.00 and I pay about 10 percent of that. I said, "I don't know how people without insurance can afford their supplies." He responded, "They don't," meaning, they can't afford to buy them so they go without which hurts their health. I didn't mean anything derogatory against people who don't have insurance. I feel for them.
I will also add that the $1,100. box of supplies would cost much, much more retail. If anyone is buying their diabetic supplies at the pharmacy and paying full price, please save yourself thousands of dollars by having your doctor write you a prescription, and use a supply company that will file it on your insurance. I tried to keep my receipts and file my own claims at first and it was a mess. I never got my claims handled properly and wasted a lot of money.

What a difference 3 years makes! The photo at 'The Farm House' was taken 3 summers ago... It definitely looks like Allison but with a slight page boy cut.. I am positive that it is the SO Allison.. I recall this pict from last year too. I recall another with her standing with 2 other women..
Allison must have been diagnosed with cancer sometime soonafter the summer of 2003. By the fall of 2004 she'd completed her chemo and her hair was just starting to grow back in. You can tell the steroids and treatments had also caused her to gain weight.
One thing about the blog Allison... It looked like she had a dogged approach about women's issues. Many of her blog entries actually looked like they were just pasting of various articles and publications that she happened to find on the topic. I think all of them reflected her attitude though..

Fresh new link!
Hopefully it will serve as an update and background all in one.. to show how she is doing. (this appears to be dated in March) and also to separate her from the other possible Allison's. I do think the Farm place... (mountaintimes) pict is her.. She may have worked there summers during college.. or on weekends way back when.

Yepper, that's the "real" Allison. You'd think a Banc of America Securities executive assistant would know better than to rack up a $48,000 debt.

KPW, Great work. Thanks for that cite! Allison has been such an inspiration to me. I'm sure you know that as I have posted it so many times before. I intend to send a letter wishing her well.

KPW...Thanks from me also re the info!
The "funeral exercise"on the show today was very touching, and helpful to many , I am sure. I did not realize, until I was in my mid
30s, that "loss" was not only about death. It can be about innocence, trust, relationships, dreams, a belief system...and in Allison's case, parts of her physical self.
We need to mourn all of these things before we can truly heal. It might seem easier to avoid the pain that comes with facing the loss and honoring it by grieving, but not in the long run.
I think this was one of the most important and instructive shows in the entire series.(IMO)
