I was never a fan of Star Jones.....but I did see her on Larry King and saw her perspective. They told her she could tell a story (and you know the truth would eventually come out) and that she could bow out her way....and she did.She wanted a bit of control on how she left the show.I am sure it had been quite uncomfortable for her for quite awhile. She also talked about her wedding and that she would have done things differently...and about her weight loss.
Not re-newing a contract is being fired.
Anyway.....you are right,KPW, the publicity is great for everyone....including The View.I never watched it that much but tuned into see what was going on.
Pretty funny the segment they played the day aftyer (pre-taped show) about working for a female boss
Did you see the expressions on Star's face!!??

No I didn't see the day after... Wish I woulda... I'm a semi regular view watcher... But I'm like you... I could see both sides... I don't think the show would have said lie... but encourage her to exit gracefully if she wanted..by lining something else up, formally stepping down to pursue other things... whatever. I didn't think what she said was inherently bad on that particular Tuesday..and that they might have been able to live with her announcement 2 days earlier.. But when People Magazine made public her side before she'd even left the show (mind you, before that day was even up!).. that didn't sit well with the management, including Barbara.. (since obviously they weren't in the loop...and didn't know about that interview which was obviously was done to make the show look bad..)

I noticed a couple magazines at the checkout last night with new articles? The new People magazine and another celebrity type mag.. Anybody get them and any new info? I caught a tiny bit of her New York House Hunter gig last night. I watched one segment of her.. and wasn't anything to 'shine' about. One article I saw online said that gig was lined up before she left the show.. Maybe she is trying on different things for size... This online article speculates other possible job prospects for her..

The smoke is clearing... It all seemed rather unnecessary! I think she was a integral part of the show these last 9 seasons..and they were trying to handle the situation delicately.. They were even planning a big send off.. As I mentioned before, I just think she may have found out that the People 'piece' was coming out sooner than she realized and she had to move up her announcement as well. If they had already mutually agreed to say something on Thursday, Star really should have honored that though. I guess the mess would have been even moreso, had she not said anything and the People article show up prior to an announcement.

Actually Starr told Larry King that she gave the interview to "People" magazine, knowing that her announcement would be made that week. Starr was planning ahead.

I watched the Larry King show and I found Starr to be very "contrived". How many times did she say regarding herself, "That's not who I am, I was not raised like that"?

I say, Starr grow up, your contract was not renewed, your "Diva Ways" were incredibly annoying, learn from this experience and move on with grace!

As for the comments regarding Starr being told to "Lie" about her departure. I think this has been distorted by Starr, in order for her to gain back some credibility. It did not fly with me. There was and is no reason for anyone to go into all the details of her contract and why it was not remewed. Starr could have simply said that it had been a good run and that she was exploring new opportunities. This would not have been a lie. IMO, Starr wants to play "The Victim Diva". I just don't buy it!

I do buy Star's version and I didn't even like Star when all of this happened. Come on, why does NBC and Barbara really want to help Star out? What incentive would they have to do that? It's business, remember? They are looking out for number 1. Why blame Star for doing the same thing?

I think Star handled the situation much better than NBC and Barbara. Speaking of Barbara, are you watching that show now? She is desperate to create scandal on the Hot Topics portion. Every day she is bringing up outrageous sex stories that usually include celebs. She's throwing names around like crazy. It's really surprisng. Don't get me wrong, I love that kind of thing. It' s just surprising coming from Barbara. Boy, has she loosened up.

And I do agree with the poster who said Elisabeth was getting on their last nerve. She is out of control! It appears she is getting paid to look like an idiot. How naive can you get?

I don't think I've ever seen anyone so insecure about herself. To think of her poor husband..... She was adamant yesterday that HER husband didn't like Playgirl magazine or any erotic photos or movies. She swore that Tim would never even look at something like that. Even if he were in the team's locker room and someone else had a nude photo, her husband wouldn't look. (He is a professional athlete) She says that's just the way he is and she is POSITIVE about that. She said it was wrong and a personal insult for a married man to look at a photo of a naked woman, because he is comparing the model to his real wife who probably doesn't look as attractive. She got very animated about this topic.

She also gets very animated about people who chose to stay in long term realtionships and not get married. She thinks it's her way or the highway. I'm really surprised this girl is so small minded. I think you can be a conservative and express your viewpoint, without coming across as narrow minded and naive.

So far, I like the Asian guest host who hadn't eaten in 10 days.
She was really funny and seemed to be relaxed on the show or maybe she was just weak from starvation.

I agree regarding, Elizabeth, she has gotten on my last nerve since shortly after she arrived on the show. Her unwavering view points on Bush along with her "puritanical" view points drive me nuts!

Actually I also enjoyed Karie Acanaba (sp) as a guest host, but even more so, I enjoyed Debra Roberts today. I think that she would be an excellent "Bridge" host. She owns great credibility with a sense of wit and humor, as did Meredeth. I am an avid watcher of
The View". I have great respect for BW and I would like to see this show succeed. There is so little TV of any value on daytime.
