Hi Mazzy,
I just came across this thread, I am so sorry to hear about your sister. I know first hand how tough this is. I lost my youngest sister at the age of 26 to cervical cancer. She was diagnosed in stage 4 with an extremely agressive form of the disease. I was diagnosed with the same form but much earlier on and I am a six year survivor.
I am sending you much love and strength.....spend time together, give her massage and manicures.....listen to relaxing music and most of all...laugh together.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
Lauren

Hi Lauren,
Thanks for your kind words. I have gotten much comfort from this thread.
I felt very hopeless when my sister was first diagnosed, but my whole family is taking it week by week. My sister seems to be reacting well to the chemo... so for today I'm praying for a long remission... and who knows... miracles may happen.

Yes, Mazzy, there certainly is a lot of hope in the survival rate for cancer patients. Medicine has come a long way. I am glad to hear that your sister is doing well with her treatments.
The best advice given to me when my sister was ill, was to continue to "Live Life to the Fullest"....so often we concentrate on the disease more so than the Life that we Still Have. This philosophy helped me through both battles in my family.

This is true... living life to the fullest is what my sister is doing... between treatments. We all know her routine... the first week of chemo she sleeps a lot... a reaction from the chemo. As soon as the effects of chemo wears off she gets on with the business of living.
I miss speaking to her everday... I miss my "old" sister... sharing the trivia of our daily lives.
My husband and I got together with her and her husband this past weekend, and it was just like old times... then Monday she went for the chemo treatment, and in a few days she should be regaining her strength. I'm proud of our family... we're as accepting as we can be for today, and we'll just have to take life one day at a time. I've heard the concept of one day at a time... now I truely know what it means.
