Starting Over Talk - Peer Coaching Support Site

This is my favorite SO message board BUT it is very frustrating because it takes so long to move from subject to subject (I have dial-up). Would it speed it up if some of the older messages were removed? Just wondering, because this is the only site where it takes so long to move around. Try to catch up on messages at times when I am not so hurried. Anyone else find this a problem?

We just got DSL ( I think that is what it is...through the cable company...) several months ago. Typically I haven't had any loading problems that we had when we had dial up. Sometimes if the computer is cleaned up, it might help it to run a little faster.

I enjoy having the DSL... We wanted to get verizon but it hadn't gotten to our part of the burb yet! Out of desperation we went with the cable provider...and service has been great! Wish we'd done it sooner!

Nice to leave the computer up and online all the time rather than worrying about missing calls. Even when we had a call waiting modem... it wasn't very reliable. another great advantage... Is that we have 2 and sometimes 3 and 4 computers in the house...

Older 2 kids have their own.. I think right now we can plug in 3 computers and all be online at once and yet independently of each other. And that isn't even with a wireless system.. It wouldn't be hard to run more if we ever need it..

I can honestly say, we'll never go back to dial up unless there is absolutely no other alternative!

Sometimes my action on the board may be sluggish. It depends on how many users are also on-line and the time of the day. Other times there is no problem. I think I have more patience because I'm on alot and have a great desire to see what other people have posted. I feel lucky that we still have the board, so I'm not inclined to complain.

KPW, I also have DSL and I like it okay, but, I used to have Road Runner and it was great! If I ever change, I will definitely go back to RR.

Sullie, I didn't mean to imply you were complaining. After I read my post again, I saw how it might sound that way. I realize you were asking a legitimate question about a problem you were having. I think I had in the back of my mind a different post of another thread when I made that statement.

Make sure you are maintaning your own computer. Make sure you don't have any viruses or spyware running. Also make sure you have recently deleted temp internet files and cookies.

Also this site and many others run a lot faster using Firefox.

No problem! I think I was complaining.
