I saw a lady movie critic the other day on tv review The Lake House. She appeared to be in the 45-55 year old range. She was quite pleasant but blunt. She wasn't the average movie critic type if you know what I mean.
She said she actually liked The Lake House, but, it was the kind of movie that you couldn't be too logical about. She said just view it as a romantic story and don't ask yourself questions about detail, because if you do you will become frustrated. From what I gathered, most of it doesn't make sense. If that kind of thing bothers you, don't see the movie.
I am the kind of person to pick apart discreptancies and anything that doesn't make sense. I can't help it. I notice the smallest things that don't add up to the script and it is difficult for me to let it go. So, I think I may pass on the Lake House, or maybe wait til it's on DVD.

Thanks Debby,
I happened to see The View today and they had Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves on... talking about it (and everything else...) and they showed some clips... I'm probably alot like you in that I pay attention to detail too... I still like Sandra Bullock alot though... and love chick flicks.. Maybe I'll wait and catch this when it comes out on DVD. Lately it's only a few months... depending on how well it does at the box office..
I hadn't realized the coincidence that Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock did another movie together...and that this movie was reuniting the 2... The View bought up the issue that they had also done the movie Speed many years ago together. I think it was about a runaway bus or something...maybe a bomb..??? I think I've only seen clips of the movie.. I'm not much on those type action packed thriller type movies.. But I always think it's neat when they are able to reunite former casts together..
I've always thought it amazing that Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks did 3 movies together.. Joe and the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle and You've got Mail... I watch the latter 2 whenever they are on..no matter how many times I've already seen them.. They do work well together!
Anyway, sorry to the community for the sidetracked convo...
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Amazing so many movies coming out....

While these movies are not in the theater right now, they are on DVD rental or maybe cable direct. I actually rented these 3 over the weekend and ALL of them were GREAT! I couldn't believe it. If you haven't seen these movies, check them out. You will not be disappointed.
Syriana. Four stars! It's about the US government, oil companies, and the middle east but all of that surrounds these intimate human stories. Sounds boring, but it's not. I usually don't go for fast paced action movies, but this is different. Allow yourself enough time to watch it at least twice. If if very fast moving and has so many characters and locations, but, if you are very attentive and stop and rewind when necessary, you can follow it. For anyone who thinks it is an anti-government movie, it's not. Their are good guys and bad guys everywhere. The movie is very deep. You are left to draw your own conclusions.
Hear of Gold. A concert with Neil Young. I suppose it may help if you like Neil Young, but, that is not a requirement. The performances are so moving! As Neil performed, he told stories of his life. This man truly does have a heart of gold. Tip. The first half of the concert is a little slow. The second half he pours it on. My favorite part was from the song "When God Made Me" until the end.
The concert was filmed in the Ryman Auditorium (Nashville) with musical guests Emmylou Harris, his wife, Pegi and others.
The Syrian Bride. Yes, there are subtitles. The movie contains, Arabic, Hebrew, English, Russian and French. It's worth the reading. The movie is set in the Golan Heights (an area between Israel and Syria that is occupied by Israel). The movie is about a modern day daughter and her family on the day of her wedding. She is crossing the border into Syria and marrying a man she has never met that was pre-arranged by her family. Because of the laws of Israel and Syria, she will never be allowed to cross the border and return to her home. Her family cannot come to visit her either. This is the best movie I have seen in years.

I saw "The Devil Wore Prada" this past weekend, it was very entertaining. Very different from the book, but, I enjoyed it!
I also finally saw "Memoirs of A Geisha" on DVD last night. WOW! Having read the book and loved it, I could not imagine loving the movie, (which is why I put seeing it off for so long!!) but...the movie is amazing in every way! I highly suggest seeing this movie!

Have not been to the movies in so long....would like to see "The Devil Wore Prada" though...saw the teasers. I'd probably like anything with Meryl Streep....remember the "Holocaust" miniseries?
She had me spellbound, knew she'd be a huge star one day! Also, James Woods, who played her husband...they really stood out, even in the midst of a wonderful cast.
(Slightly off topic!!)
