OH! Ceil, could not agree with you more....I Love Meryl Streep!! I remember her in her first movie..."The Seduction of Joe Tynnan"! She was fabulous! I can remember Alan Alda, her co-star and producer saying in a interview..."You do not know her now, but she is brilliant, and you will know her in the future and for a long time to come". Boy! was he right!

You know, when I read "Sophie's Choice" I had her picked out for the lead if they ever made the movie! Was thrilled to see that they made the right choice!! Who else could possibly have played that part?
Isn't it strange that she gets "picked on" for being so talented, and for brilliantly reproducing any accent?

I agree....she does get "picked on" by Hollywood... in the words of Ayn Rand "Hatred of the Good for Being the Good"! One of my favorite quotes!

If we are still talking about Meryl...that's what I like about her, she is so NOT "Hollywood." You never see her at all the "right parties"
or splashed all over the tabloids in the grocery store. She is "real people" as this old fogie remembers a term from the 70s!!
