I lived in Annapolis Maryland for twelve years or so. I worked at a custom swimming pool/spa design company. We did her custom spa and the spa room etc for her house in Davidsonville. After building we also serviced the spa every other week to clean it and add chemicals. I was so excited one day when I heard that she was coming in to pick out the tiles. I had seen her on Oprah and she thought she was awesome. She came in with her husband and a young boy. She was at all like she seems on Oprah or Starting Over. I said to myself hey everyone has a bad day but then the
couple of other interactions we had were the same. She kind of
talked down to our staff. When your in the business of providing luxury items to people you come to be able to tell what they call
"new money and old money". The "old money" people were snooty but in a different way they could tell you to do something but didn't leave you feeling like you were beneath them. The "new money" people often would leave you with a feeling like they owned you. It
was just the vibe we all got from her.

I love her on starting over and her interactions with the house guests seem sincere. I've read several of her books and still
remain a fan. Maybe now I realize from watching the show that
I put my expectations onto her. Not everyone is "on" all the time.

It's always interesting to find out things about celebs' personal side. I've heard some information about Iyanla and quite a bit about Rhonda, but not much about Dr. Stan. I've read that he is married with 5 children. I know he is verrrry prominent in his profession and that he was the state's expert witness in the Michael Jackson criminal trial. That must have been quite devastating to him. He interviewed the child witnesses and believed that they were abused.

I noticed at Jodi's graduation he addressed her in his speech with "Shalom." Is he Jewish, is she, or are they both? I haven't heard him say that ever before?

I also read another post that said he was consulting on the show "Blind Date" or something like that. I've never seen him on there before.

Does anyone have more details on Dr. Stan?

I didn't hear shalom, but I did hear Mazel Tov at Jodi's graduation which means good luck or congratulations in Hebrew, and today he said Christie raising her brother is a "mitzvah," which literally means commandment in Hebrew but in common usage means a good deed, as in bar mitzvah. These are all Hebrew words. So is "tanta" which means aunt - as when Jodi said she would be Tanta Jodi to Christie's brother. Also their last names, Katz and Isaacs, are common Jewish names. To me it is clear they are both Jewish but I do not recall any specific references to that in the show.

Thanks Valtina, I knew it was a Jewish term that he used. I must have been thinking of that new show "Shalom in the Home." It's about this rabbi who travels in an RV and visits the homes of troubled families to counsel with them. No, I'm not kidding. It's really wild, but I kinda like it.

Too bad the idea's taken, that might have worked for Dr. Stan. although he's not a rabbi, he's very well trained in counseling.

I agree that would have been a great idea for Dr. Stan. (It's kinda funny picturing him in an RV !)
