Oh, okay. Thanks! Toni (like Aretha Franklin) was probably not available for that weekend.

Aretha Franklin is afraid to fly, and I don't know how far in advance these invitations were given out. Also, she may not have been in the best of health for train or bus traveling.

I cried from beginning to end, and my mother kept looking at me like I was crazy. But, when I saw Diann Carol, my mind went back to when I was a little girl, and her show, Julia was a big hit for me. I had a memory from just about every woman at that luncheon.

Me toooo!! I loved that show Julia. It brought back some great memories. Of course, those times were hard for those ladies. It was so nice that some of them received this tribute before their passing.

Hey Hugs...
I happen to have the reading Iyanla said at the Poetry Slam
here it is:

The End

The End is not the middle or beginning, yet it is the place from which the beginning and middle draw their meaning.
It is the place the middle ceases to be and the beginning comes into existence.
It is the place that gives meaning to all and draws lessons from all and yet, it is the place I most hate to be when I'm still able, in the middle, to be happy about the beginning...
It starts moving me toward the End.
The End calls out to me.
It calls me up and into more of what I know not, so that I can begin the journey toward the End...again.

You may want to check out Oprah's Legend Ball scheduled for Monday night. I'm not sure of the time. In an interview this morning, Oprah was describing how great the vibes were at the Gospel Brunch the next day. She was naming some of the guests and she said Iyanla's name. She didn't give a last name, but I figure there's definitely only one Iylana.

I assume she would be at the Ball if she attended the Brunch. It sounds like a really great group of women were honored.

Does anyone have more details?
o

Iyanla was not at Oprah's Legends Ball. The name you heard was Yolanda---as in Yolanda Adams.

Dallas, I did misunderstand Oprah in her interview and thought she said Iyanla. I'm really glad I did, because I might have missed the special otherwise. I hope you were able to catch it. It was great!!!

I kept looking for Iyanla and when they showed Yolanda Adams, I realized that is who Opray was talking about. Too bad Iyanla wasn't there. It looked like the kind of event that she would relish in as well as as one that she would have contributed to in a big way!

Did you catch the SO episode in which Iyanla took the hg to a church service? Anyone remember who is was? I think it was season 2. It looked like it was a lively and uplifing experience.
