From the unbelievable choas of the tsunami disaster comes this incredible story from Jim France of the Pavillion Hotel Group in Bangkok. At a resort on Phuket, a very popular attraction was elephant rides. Usually 8 people on an elephant that takes you first into the surrounding forest, then down to the beach, then to lunch at a fresh water logoon, then back to the hotel. The 9 elephants were chained to in ground posts. About 20 minutes before the first wave hit, the elephants became extremely agitated and unruly. Four had just returned from a trip around and the handlers had not chained them yet. They helped the other 5 free from their chains. They all climed a hill and started bellowing. Many people followed them up the hill. Then the waves hit. After the waves subsided , the elephants charged down from the hill, and started picking up children with their trunks and running them back up the hill. When all children were taken care of, they started helping the adults. They rescued 42 people.Then, they returned to the beach and carried up 4 dead bodies, one a child. Not until the task was done would they allow their handler's to mount them. Then with handler's atop, they began moving wreckage.
Isn't that fantastic!! I am in awe of God's creatures.

Where did you see this at? I saw something while surfing some time back about the Elephants carrying the people! I had heard, too, about the animals being "mysteriously" missing! How Awesome is that, that they knew the tsunami was coming.

That is quite amazing. I know they were trained elephants, familiar with humans and comfortable with them. But to still do that all on their own is really neat and great to hear!!

yes, sometimes it is amazing what animals can do using just there pure instict.

they even moved to higher ground before it hit. Many more lives could have been spared if people would of only listened and followed the animals.

what a wonderful thing to have seen in the mist of such disaster.
