Starting Over Talk - Peer Coaching Support Site

I posted this under general information as well. I wrote into Realityblurred.com and asked how the girls paid their bills back at home being gone so long, if they got paid anything to do the show and if there would be another season. Imagine my surprise when they actually emailed me back. Here's their answer.

"Their time spent there seems to vary. No one will confirm anything, but we hear this is the last season, that the show is too costly. And they seem to have canceled the only “casting call” on their site, so hmmm…

It’s possible they get a small stipend, but I suspect the women just have to somehow make sure someone can pay their rent/mortgage/bills while they’re gone. They either have to use savings or something. Of course, many of them hope to cash in on what little fame they can get from the show, so they figure it will even out.

I’m addicted too, I wish they’d do another season."

I've seen many shows go off the air but never have I thought about trying to do something to stop it from happening.

Well thanks hon-we are all hoping we'll hear better news, but it keeps sounding the same. We can all just continue to write, call and keep the word out.
Also, keeping up the noise even after it has been cancelled is a good idea because sometimes there is only a season break from a show to test the "wanting" waters of an audience.
SO needs to try some marketing unfortunately - make some DVDs or product and sell on their official site. I know I'd buy an SO journal!

You know, honey, you're right. Dr. Laura did it. O'reilly did it. Everybody does it...Where's the SO junk? We need a Save SO t-shirt, etc.

Relativly speaking Starting Over doesn't cost very much to produce. Compared to talks show with Big names is doesn't cost very much. They also get quite a few sponsors and it doesn't cost very much for local statations to pick the show up. If it's canceled it probably doesn't have very much to do with not being able to afford to produce the show.

I answered this on your other post .. but you do realize the women get (can't remember which) $500 or $600 a week during their stay there. So they DO get paid well and although they use that to buy their own groceries and clothing etc while there, unless given extra $$ for an excercise where they spend SO's cash for the excercise.. they can send home some money.. Christina even talked about it with her mom because she wasn't getting it in the bank in time for bills her mom was paying etc. and she told her mom she'd deal with it lol

If I remember correctly, when Josie was there, she was sending her SO money to her boyfriend to pay her car insurance (which he didn't)
