I can understand where the assumption would come from. Simon Cowell predicted that he'd go to the finals. Odd runners predicted that he'd make it to the finals. Reading MSNBC and other news sites also wrote that had a huge chance of making it to the finals. Most people did predict that Kat would have been voted off because of the dropped lyrics.

No matter if he stays voted off or they bring him back... his future is secured and he has so many new opportunities. Being offered to be frontman for Fuel would give him more chances to go far... or he may make it on his own terms and create a band. AND because he didn't win the title.... he'll have the freedom to pursue his career on his own terms sooner.

Hey Deb.. honestly, I have no idea what happened but now that it has.. it's going to be unfair to all involved. For one, whoever wins some people (and news etc) will always question it's legitimacy.. if it was a malfunction and he comes back it's even unfair because then votes may just flood for him and whoever the favorite was (if not him) would then take a second seat, or that would be the perception. It could also backfire and bringing him back could cause friction and him lose.

IF he was voted off due to malfunction, it's only right he get the chance to continue on.. but if it can't be known for certain, it should just stay as it is. He will get more media and more boost for himself now, he may not have the title of American Idol.. but he's gained a lot of a fanbase and if he plays it right, he can do great things.

That's the irony. he's gonna do a whole lot better - with the right management - than if he was under the mantle of American Idol and tied to them contractually that way.

But I think he IS contractually bound to travel with them for the American Idol tour they do after the winner is announced. After that, though, he doesn't have to make his "record" with them.

I recall interviews with kelly Clarkson in which she said she was tied into an extended time line for release of her first CD and songs she did not want to do, and then when she was contractually free to do so, she chose other management who gave her a lot more automony - and a lot more of their time. Simon Cowell and whatever his company is blew it big time with her, because her success only grew under the new management.

Chris should strike while the iron is hot and he's still on people's minds.

I agree, even though I do like Taylor, Chris is by FAR the most "marketable" and fits in extremely well in most mainstream stations!!! Well........it'll be interesting to see how it all pans out!!!

He WILL totally have a rockin' career!!! I'll buy all his CDs!!!

You can actually get through on the vote lines before the show is over. I tried last week and got through many times even before Taylor finished singing.
