Grizz, I notice that you have a little icon with a medical symbol.

Would you be interested in reading "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult as our next book? It is about a family, inwhich, one child is conceived for the express purpose of harvesting the umblilical cord (stem cells) for a sibling with APL. At a certain point, the 'donor child' begins to question when is 'enough'. (She has over the course of time, donated platelets, blood, marrow, etc.).

I think that it would be interesting to discuss this with someone in the medical field, as I am someone with a special needs child. I think it would make for interesting chat.

Let me know.

Sure...........I'm up for just about anything. I have heard a lot about that book (and the family was on several interviews a few years ago if it's the same family) but I never have read it!! Okay, I'll put it on hold at the ole liberry. If the list is too long, I'll go in to Barnes and Noble and buy it. Any excuse for me to spend money there is a good thing!!!!!

Oh Great!! I had read many things about the book also and finally decided to read it. This is a novel. I think that the idea may have originated with the family that you refer to.

Needless to say, if anyone else wants to read it and chat about it with us that would be great.

OMG! I just finished this book. I couldn't put it down. It was wonderful, sad, and beautiful. I won't say much about the plot because there are some suprises, but this is one of the bests books I have read in years. I haven't read this author before, but am looking forward to more of her work.

Hello Parker -

That will be great if you join us for My Sister's Keeper. It is a very good book. I think it is a great book for a book discussion group. There are so many aspects of the story that a person may empathize with.

Just as soon as Grizz and I finish Wicked we can start. Okay?
