I'm an RN. I haven't worked as an RN since I conceived my 2nd son back in April, 1999, tho.
When I was working, I strictly worked in OB and rotated between L&D, Newborn Nursery, and Antepartum. It was my first RN job and my dream RN position all in one!
My only advice to you is if you are able to do a Senior Internship right before graduation, pick your favorite specialty and go for it!! That's what I did. I always wanted to work in OB but just assumed I would have to do the standard med-surg for a few years first. Well, the hospital hired me soon after my internship in the OB unit ended and so that is the only kind of nursing I have done. I plan to go back someday, but right now, I need to be home with my sons. Son #1 is almost 12 and in 6th grade, son #2 just started Kindergarten and is 6, and I am VERY pregnant with son #3 and he is due to be born any day now.
I don't plan to go back to nursing until Son #3 is in school and I would like to return to OB nursing.
Email/PM me anytime if you questions...
