I have noticed the New Age theme throughout the second and third seasion (missed the first season) - especially during Iyanla's sessions. Then she tosses in a quote from the Bible, and I start questioning myself again.
What part is New-Age? What does New-Age mean anyway?

One time really clinched it for me: Ok, everyone go stand out on your deck. Yell what you want to the Universe so it will be given to you. Everything you ever could need is already waiting for you out there.
That was prayer packaged for a secular audience. Had Iyanla said, "let's pray" she would have alienated a large segment of the viewers. She was wise to do it that way. When those who believe in prayer, pray, they too are talking to an entity that is unseen. An entity that's "out there". The show is not watched by Christians only, so using a generic term 'Universe' was very wise. Those who believe in prayer, do so by faith believing everything they are praying for is in the spiritual (unseen, therefore "out there"

and that prayer manifests it in the physical. I'm not sure where the difference is.
